The smartest breed of dogs as a guide

A dog is a man's friend. This animal for many has become not just a friend, but even a family member. But for some dogs are a must. It's about guide dogs.

Looking back, you can find out that the first schools for training animals that later help people deprived of sight or visually impaired appeared in Germany during the First World War. Specially trained quadrupeds became true helpers for veterans, who lost sight due to injuries on the battlefield, and helped to look for the wounded. And later, such animals became permanent companions, which made it easier for owners to move outdoors, on busy streets, thereby protecting them from injuries. There are also known references to earlier attempts to train dogs as guides.

To date, there are quite a few specialized schools for dogs around the world. But not every breed can be accepted into them. For example, Chow Chow or Pekingese are unlikely to ever be enlisted in the ranks of guides. They, as well as the Afghan greyhound and mastiff along with the English bulldog, have a very low level of intelligence, and the title "the cleverest breed of dogs" will always bypass them. Representatives of these breeds are best made simply for the soul.

The pugs and French bulldogs, as well as Bobtails, St. Bernards, Maltese lapdogs and Scotch terriers, were awarded a little more for training. To remember new commands they need to hear them at least fifty times. Such data will not please any trainer, especially if he is an employee of a specialized dog school. The main goal of such institutions is to train the maximum number of animals for a minimum of time. But in the pursuit of quantity, in no case should quality suffer, so even the most intelligent breed of dogs will pass the strictest selection and will be surrounded by close attention.

The most common breeds, trained to help people with disabilities, today are German shepherds, golden retrievers and labradors. Surprisingly, the most intelligent breed of dogs, considered to be a border collie, practically does not occur among guides. The reason for this, undoubtedly, was her too energetic nature. To be a reliable assistant to his master, the animal must have a stable psyche, to be extremely attentive to all the little things, to listen and to catch any changes in the state of the person being cared for. Undoubtedly, clever breeds of dogs take part in training, but nevertheless, one of the main factors of successful learning is the early start of classes. Puppy must get used to certain conditions from the youngest age. He needs from the first days to feel the responsibility that will accompany him all his life, because guide dogs are selected individuals. At about six months of age, the little dog will first get acquainted with his master and continue training with him.

Thus, the future assistant will be able to begin adapting to the specific way of life and behavior of the person who needs a guide dog. Together with their pets, the hosts are also trained. By the way, it does not matter whether it's children or elderly people, the essence remains unchanged - the owner himself grows himself a loyal friend. The cynologists and trainers present in the school closely follow the regime and take an active part in the life of both dogs and disabled people.

In any case, it does not matter which cleverest breed of dogs. The main thing is that the result of training is really useful for people with disabilities.
