The most famous paintings and artists who wrote them

How many wonderful examples of painting in the world! But there are famous pictures familiar to the absolute majority of people. That's about them and it will be discussed in our small review. And also about the talented masters who created these perfect masterpieces. Do you already know which pictures will be discussed?

Famous Renaissance paintings

The Renaissance (Europe, Italy - XIV-XVI centuries) presented mankind with a host of brilliant artists. Frantic Michelangelo, the great Leonardo da Vinci, the divine Raphael, romantic and caressed by the power of Sandro Botticelli - these names are inscribed in gold letters in the history of the world. The names of the paintings of these artists are familiar even to people far from art.

Who has never seen "Gioconda" - a painting belonging to Da Vinci's brush? It is unlikely that such a person syschtsya. After all, reproductions of this portrait are replicated throughout the world. Smile Mona Lisa can be found anywhere: in magazines, on the Internet, in advertising. And the lucky ones, who had the good fortune to visit the Louvre museum, could contemplate the original of the canvas.

The other most famous paintings by Leonardo are "The Madonna of Benois" (also called "Madonna with a Flower"), "The Madonna of Litta", a fresco depicting Christ and the Apostles - "The Last Supper", a portrait of "The Lady with Ermine".

Remembering Raphael, I immediately want to name the painting "Sistine Madonna". This Italian painter for his short life (37 years) left behind a rich heritage that affected many subsequent generations of artists. But the mentioned work of art is one of the most recognizable and popular in the world.

Michelangelo Buonarroti worked in the 16th century, mainly as a sculptor and architect. The most fundamental of his work is the frescoes of the Sistine Chapel. Of these grandiose paintings, the most famous is "The Creation of Adam."

Famous paintings by Botticelli, the court painter of the Medici, are equally gorgeous, and we could talk about them endlessly, but mention only those that are really familiar to everyone. This, above all, "The Birth of Venus" - a picture that depicts the golden-haired goddess of love, floating in the world, standing on the sink. The next canvas of the master, which can not be forgotten, is called "Spring". Even if one of you can not immediately remember what exactly is depicted there, then it suffices to hint that the center of the composition is three graces, and the memory of the majority will immediately be refreshed.

Landscapes of the Impressionists

The end of the nineteenth century and the beginning of the twentieth gave the world a new direction in painting - Impressionism. Today, in museums of many countries, visitors admire canvases by such artists as Mane Eduard, Degas Edgar, Claude Monet, Pissarro, Alfred Sisley and others. Impressionists worked extensively in nature, landscape plays a very important role in their works and often acts as a separate, independent genre.

Claude Monet, for example, was very fond of writing secluded ponds, on the surface of which beautiful water lilies and water lilies are adorned. In this regard, I want to make a small lyrical digression: in the film "Titanic" Cameron, when the events reach a climax and the ship goes to the bottom, there is a moment when one of such incomparable works of Monet with lilies disappears forever in the green ocean water. Famous paintings and landscapes of this artist are in the collections of not only European museums, but also in our Hermitage ("Field with Poppies", "Luga Giverny") and the Moscow Museum of Fine Arts ("Haystack", "Rocks in Etretat").

Sunbeds by Van Gogh

Hot "Sunflowers", written in several versions by one of the most beloved artists today, who during his lifetime never waited for the recognition of his talent (Van Gogh), are popular and famous paintings all over the world. And not only known, but also one of the most expensive. Another famous creation of the post-impressionist - "Irises" - also has a fantastic price. Art critics say that today the cost of this painting is approaching $ 110 million, and this figure will only grow with time.

Cloths of Pablo Picasso

Spanish artist Pablo Picasso was remarkable not only for his talent, but also for his incredible ability to work, that's why a lot of his paintings are exhibited in different museums of the world today. And which one is the most famous, do you think? We do not doubt that you will answer: "Girl on the ball" - a painting relating to the "pink period" of Picasso's creativity. And, of course, you will be right.

Pictures of Russian genius - Karl Bryullov

Famous Russian paintings - "The Death of Pompeii", "The Italian Noon" (Russian Museum, St. Petersburg), "The Horseman" (Tretyakov Gallery, Moscow), etc., belonging to the brush of our compatriot Karl Bryullov, invariably attract crowds of tourists Beautiful. This remarkable artist wrote in an academic manner. It is believed that his work is crowned by late Russian Romanticism.

People who saw with their own eyes the grandiose work "The Last Day of Pompeii", still for a long time remain under the strong impression received from the contemplation of the picture. In it, the artist managed to show masterfully not only the merciless element of the erupting Vesuvius, but also the entire horror of the inhabitants of the ancient city from the premonition of a swift death. Work on the canvas lasted for six years. Impressive and huge size of the picture - 465 by 651 cm.

Conclusion

Unfortunately, it is impossible to list all known pictures of the world in a short article. We did not say anything about the paintings of Rembrandt, Rubens, Gauguin, Dali, Levitan, Repin, Vasnetsov and many, many other brilliant painters. We hope to do this in the next articles.
