The long-awaited maternity leave: payments are a good help for the family budget

Waiting for the baby is accompanied by a lot of pleasant troubles associated with the appearance of it in the light. In addition to taking care of your health and buying everything that is necessary for the child, the expectant mother needs to remember to take care of such an important moment as getting various benefits associated with this event. This assistance from the state relies on all mothers, without exception, only its size will vary depending on various factors.

Maternity leave, payment of which can be obtained, begins several months before the birth and lasts 3 years from the moment of the appearance of the child.

The first one begins maternity leave. For moms, expecting a single baby, its duration is 140 days (starts with 30 weeks of pregnancy). In the case of complications in labor, it increases to 156 days. But if twins or more children are expected, the length of leave is 194 days. At the same time, it will be possible to finish with work at the 28th week of pregnancy. Next comes the leave to take care of the child, which is paid up to the age of one and a half years of the baby, and up to three years you receive only a monthly 50-ruble compensation. The greatest number of questions arise precisely for the first period.

Payment of maternity benefits under the new rules (entered into force with the onset of 2013)

It was from this date that the amendments adopted in 2011 began to operate. Now the basis for calculating the amount of payments will be the salary for two years of work preceding the departure on leave, and not one, as it was before.

Another change concerns the procedure for calculating the average wage to determine the amount of the allowance. So, periods of other maternity leave, sick leave, unpaid taxes (material assistance up to 4000 rubles, allowances, etc.) will not be taken into account.

Working on maternity leave is not a reason to reduce the amount of assistance received, associated with it. So the mother, who started her labor activity early after the birth of the baby, receives a benefit in the same amount as the one who has not yet returned to work.

For maternity leave payments are transferred at a time. They are equal to the average salary of a woman for the same length of time, but are legally limited to 18,686,680 rubles. Thus, women who receive a sufficiently large salary, going into the decree, lose money, namely, if in the calculation period it exceeded the values (the basis for calculation):

  • For 2010 and earlier years - 415,000 rubles;
  • For 2011 - 463000 rubles;
  • For the year 2012 - 512,000 rubles.

The situation is slightly different with those whose total work experience is less than 6 months. For them, the amount of payment for one month will be 4661 rubles.

Maternity leave - benefits for a child under the age of 1.5 years

The second stage of the "decree" is a leave to take care of a child whose minimum payment is 2453.93 rubles a month for the first child, 4907.85 for the second and subsequent.

The allowance for everyone else is defined as 40% of the average salary for two years (calculated similarly to the case with maternity leave), its maximum is limited to 16241.14 rubles.

Maternity leave: payments that can be obtained additionally

A small compensation can be obtained for the early registration for pregnancy. When a child is born, the allowance in the amount of 12,405.32 rubles is paid out on a one-off basis.

Mom, who was born the second baby, has the right to receive a single-time maternity capital, the size of which in 2013 is 408960.50 rubles.

In addition to the described federal payments, you can get compensation from the regional budget at the place of residence. For example, in Moscow these are the so-called Luzhkov payments, and in the Moscow region - the Gromovs.
