Description
These late (winter) apples retain all their qualities and presentation until April. The tree is distinguished by an average winter hardiness and resistance to leaf scab. At the same time, resistance to a similar disease of fruits is higher than average. The variety of apples "Bogatyr" is characterized by stable and high yield. Often, up to 100 kg of fruit are collected from one adult tree. This apple tree is tall with a conical or round spreading crown. It is not too thick, which allows the sun to light well the fruits that are inside it. The branches are covered with dark green oval leaves. Apples are located mainly on the rings, although they are also on biennial shoots. The main lower branches are very powerful, covered with a bark of red-brown color. They are located almost at right angles to the tree trunk. The branches located higher, make with it an angle of 45 °.
This apple tree blossoms with almost flat small white-pink flowers. They rarely have a dissected edge. Stigmas are located above the anthers. Active fructification in this apple begins at the age of 6-7.
Commercial properties of fruits
Apples "Bogatyr", the photos of which are presented below, are rather large (up to 200 g). With proper care and good weather conditions, their size can increase. The fruits have a planar shape and a wide base. In this case, there is a certain slanting of apples to the calyx. Fruits are held on small, thick, sturdy peduncles.
During the removable maturity, these apples have a greenish-yellow color. When stored, it turns yellow. The fruit, located on the sunny side of the tree, has a slight carmine flush. The skin of the apple is smooth, although in the depth of the funnel and around it there are crooked areas.
A variety of apples "Bogatyr" has a white dense, low-slice, crisp, fine-grained pulp, which has a delicate aroma. Fruits contain sugars (10%), acids (0.56%), including ascorbic acid (12.9 / 100 g), dry substances (13%), P-active catechins (134.5 / 100 g) . Mature apples have a pleasant sweet and sour taste. These fruits can be consumed fresh and processed (for making mashed potatoes, compotes, pastilles, jams, jam, soufflé). With long-term storage, the marketability of fruits is up to 90%. At the same time about 60% of them are apples of the highest and 1 sort. The only drawback of the appearance of these fruits is the insufficient saturation of their color.
