Enotera perennial - a night flower
In the genus there are about one hundred species of biennial and perennial specimens, tall and short, having yellow, white, coral, less often - light blue flowers. Enoter perennial has a unique feature - it blooms only in the evening, at sunset, while you can really see how all the buds open in a few seconds. After two hours the whole bush will be covered with bright, as if shining in the dark colors, because of what it is called a "night candle". Inflorescences fade the next day, and in the evening they bloom again. Enotera perennial when grown in the shade and on cloudy days can bloom in the daytime, but still it is considered a night flower.
Gardeners usually grow these plants biennials, less often, in the southern areas - perennials. Sown primrose seeds germinate in the first year with rosettes of leaves, and flowers and fruits appear in the second year. It should be remembered that, ignored for a couple of years, due to the intense seedling and germination of young shoots from the overgrown roots, the perennial breeder breeds very quickly and can turn over time into an undesirable neighbor for other garden flowering plants. To prevent sowing, wilted flowers should be regularly removed. This will also help maintain a neat look of the flower. And to stop the unwanted growth of the roots around the site where the enotera is planted, it is recommended to dig in at a depth of 20-25 cm the limiters.
Landing of evening primrose can be carried out in any corner of the site. It is able to beautifully enliven the shady corners, it will serve as an excellent center of composition along with short annuals, will be able to decorate garden paths, arches. Enotera perennial is very undemanding to the quality of the soil and lighting, but with sufficient light and fertilized soil it will bloom more luxuriantly and brightly. The only condition is a good permeability of the soil, as stagnation of meltwater can cause decay of rosettes or even the death of a flower. Watering it is necessary only in arid days, when the soil at the roots of the plant completely dries up.
The bright and original plant of the enoter, planting and caring for which do not cause much trouble, enthralls both a novice amateur florist and an experienced gardener, giving pleasure to their nightly "candles" to all who have at least once seen it.
