Reproduction of violets in small quantities. But for sure

The Umburian violets or senpolis lead their history from wild violets growing in the mountainous regions of Kenya and Tanganyika. This history counts more than a hundred years. During this time, thousands of different varieties have been bred, which have gained immense popularity and love among millions of indoor flower lovers.

Growing violets requires careful care, and then they will please you with their beautiful healthy appearance and abundant flowering almost all year round. Violets can not be called moody colors, but some features of their growth should be taken into account.

Reproduction of violets for me, as for many novice lovers of violets, was quite problematic. The first attempts were not crowned with success. But the experiments continued. Classics of the genre prescribed the reproduction of violets by the traditional method of leaf propagation. To do this, you need to prepare a sheet of your favorite variety. It is necessary that this is a mature leaf without any signs of disease, a good green color, indicating that there is a sufficient supply of chlorophyll in it. It should be taken from the second row of leaves or from under the peduncle. On the leaf petiole, use a new razor blade to make a fresh cut. And for rooting put in a glass with boiled water, which is added to the half-activated charcoal. After two weeks, the root should show roots. When they grow to 1-1.5 cm, the stalk should be planted in a pot. And put in a microparticle - an ordinary plastic bag, only new and loosely tied.

After repeated attempts, having accumulated a certain experience, I came to the conclusion that the multiplication of violets in single quantities can be made by rooting them immediately in the ground. To do this, simply collect the following "construction". In a pot with a trailing donkey 8 cm in diameter, I fill in the prepared soil mixture of the type "Terra Vita". It should be rather loose and damp. Leaf with cut to 2-3 cm petech carefully inserted into the ground. I flood the soil around the stalk. And on top of all this very carefully close the cropped top of the plastic bottle. I select the diameter of the plastic "spacesuit" to the diameter of the pot so that the structure is kept tight enough, there was free space inside, and the leaf did not touch the plastic. The plug from the neck at the same time unscrew. Watering is carried out moderately through the pallet or around the rim of a plastic bottle, the water does not fall on the leaf, but it moistens the soil well. Inside the "spacesuit" is created the necessary micro-atmosphere, which has a beneficial effect on the rooting of the cuttings.

After 1,5-2 months (sometimes more) on the leaf appear babies. After their germination, the "space suit" can be removed. Having grown a little bit of tiny creatures, so that it was not terrible to take in hands, they must be seated. It is very convenient for this purpose to use small plastic cups (100 ml). The hole at the bottom is easy to burn with a hot nail or an old fork. And for a "collective" pallet, I usually use a plastic container from under the preserves - the liquid level is clearly visible and it's easy to determine the need for additional watering. Such a collective pallet for a couple of weeks for adaptation can be supported by a microparticle from the package.

Reproduction of violets can also be carried out by stepsons growing in the axils of the leaves. But it should be done when they have already formed their own small rosette of not less than 4-5 leaves. It is necessary to carefully separate the scalpel or the blade of the dangerous razor of stepson from the stem. Allow to dry the cutting site for 10-15 minutes and, powdering the cut with activated carbon powder , put it in the ground. When seating children or stepchilds, it is recommended to use the same prepared soil mixture as for the rooting of the leaves. After that, they should be placed in the micro-pot from the package.

To rooted stepsons or planted babies well went into growth, you should remember the basic rules of care for violets.

  • Water plants with soft water around the edge of the pot, so that moisture does not fall to the point of growth, it is better to do this through a pallet;
  • Senpolii do not like bright, direct sunlight, but prefer the scattered;
  • For them, drafts and low temperatures are damaging, in winter it should not be below 18 degrees;
  • Feed the plant should be every 8-10 days, especially in spring and summer;
  • So that the bush is symmetrical and neat, it should be rotated periodically around the axis.

Sometimes the question arises, how to transplant the violet, when she became old enough, and she begins to denude the lower part of the stem. Transplant the plant should be periodically, about once a year, better in the spring. The reserve of nutrients in the soil during this time is, as a rule, exhausted, which can adversely affect the flowering. Pots for transplantation can be both plastic and ceramic, but their diameter, even for adult plants, should not exceed 10 cm. If the plant has several adult stems, they must be carefully divided with a scalpel so that everyone gets his portion of roots. The cut should be powdered with activated carbon powder and well dried. After drying the cut, plants can be planted, deepening to the first leaves of the rosette. If any of the roots do not get roots, do not rush to throw it away. Remove excess leaves, powder the cut with activated charcoal and dry well. It can also be rooted in a small pot in the microparticle.

Of course, there are other features, from "aerobatics", but not all at once. Let the breeding skills of violets allow you to admire your pets, their beautiful flowering. Let the plants please you at any time of the year.
