His family constantly came to the brink of poverty, which is why Antonio, the head of the Scalett family, decided to transport his relatives to America in search of a better life. But this does not help to avoid a half-starved existence, and Antonio gradually climbs into debt.

Watching his parents, Vito quickly realized the main truth - by honest work you will not become rich. In addition, a great impression on the little Sicilian was made by the steep guys, who were afraid of death or law, who looted money to the right and to the left. Vito Scaletta always wanted to be like them.

When the main character is a little older, he and his friend Joe decide to rob the bank. But the attempt is unsuccessful, and Vito is detained by the police. Instead of going to jail, the protagonist chooses to send the punishment to the front, where he serves up to the injury. Arriving on vacation, Vito meets a friend of childhood Joe Barbaro, who helps the protagonist to first slip from the army, and then reduces it to the right people who offer "dust-free" work for good money. So Vito falls into the gangster environment, which is the basis of the game "Mafia-2."
