The director tried to create the illusion of a huge inner space. And he did it! The audience does not even suspect that the actors of the film "The Wizards" are actually shot in completely different premises: the banquet hall of the Suzdal hotel and tourist complex, the foyer of the ZIL cultural center, the corridors of the Ostankino TV center, the winter garden of the Ostankino shopping center.

The facade of the same "NUINU" will be photographed from the Moscow Hotel "Soyuz". The magnificent run of the troika of the Oryol trotters, accompanied by the singing of Larisa Dolina, is recorded in the Bitsevsky forest park.

Transformation of literary images in the film

Essential edits were made by the director himself in the resulting screenplay, which distinguishes the latter from the literary source. Almost all the names of literary heroes in the film "The Wizards" were changed to varying degrees. The actors were also fairly freely interpreted in the context of the work of the role. Konstantin Leonidovich was not approached by the original scenario of recognized masters of fiction. After all, he had to turn literature into a film production. He asked the authors to rewrite the script, making the necessary amendments to them.

Director of the Institute "NUINU", a sorceress of the highest category Kira Anatolievna Shemakhan was played by Ekaterina Vasilyeva. The Strugatskys have no such image at all. It is somewhat analogous to the character of Lyudmila Prokofyevna Kalugina from the film "Office Romance" by Eldar Ryazanov.

First Deputy Director Ivan Stepanovich Kivrin is represented by actor Valery Zolotukhin (in the story he has a slightly different name: Fedor Simeonovich Kivrin). Kivrin and Shemahanskaya are in love with each other.

The careerist and deceiver Sataneyev

But in addition, this official from science is trying to build his own happiness on someone else's misfortune. He seeks to separate the main characters of the film: Alyonushka and Ivanushka. Sataneev has his own interest. He wants to marry Alena Igorevna. The first deputy easily deceives Shemahanskaya, blinded by jealousy, that Ivan Kivrin and Alyonushka secretly love each other.

Alena Igorevna Sanin, the master of abnormalities of absolute, young, but already able wit, played Alexandra Yakovleva. In the story of the Strugatsky brothers, this film image corresponds to the book character of Stella's witch.

The actress plays the role of a contrast. At first she is a sweet, friendly, in love with her Ivanushka, happily expecting an early marriage. Her colleagues are respected and kindly liked by the institute - sorcerers.

Actors and their roles are successful when they succeed in reincarnation. Alexandra Yakovleva managed to organically play her heroine and with a personality completely changed by the enchantment of the jealous Shemahan (she was cast by the "ice heart" curse.) Now Ivanushka completely forgot her, the girl is motivated by a pragmatic calculation: to tighten the Sataneyev's perspective and in love with her more firmly. What for? They are objectively necessary to humanize the film "Wizards". Actors and the role of the film, if to speak in general, realize one main idea of the script: love is stronger than any witchcraft.

We are talking about Victor Kovrov (Emmanuel Vitorgan) and Foma Ostapovich Bryl (Mikhail Svetin). Similar employees are not uncommon in institutions. Both characters are positive heroes. They were friends with Alena and are very worried that sorcery replaced her soul for "fierce winter". It was Bryl and Kovrov who summoned Ivanushka to help his bride. It is characteristic that these colleagues are completely different from each other. Let us consider these images in more detail.

The role of Victor Kovrov, who works as a master of magic wood, was combined from two literary images of the story: Masters Oir-Oyra and Victor Korneev. This character is ironic. Kovrov is a workhorse. More cunning employees successfully shift their duties to him. He constantly does something, is always in suspense, is preoccupied with some problems. Because of this load, he is often mistaken in spells.

Foma Bryl in the performance of Mikhail Svetin is a kind and charming character, but with cunning. He is lazy to conjure on his own, now and again persuading Kovrov to "spell" for him.

For many viewers, the favorite episode of the film was the one when Ivanushka was sewn white costume by these sorcerers. Actors (the photos are presented in our article) so convincingly convinced Ivan Pukhov and, most importantly, the audience: "The main thing is that the suit should sit!", That after the first premiere of the film this funny phrase was on everyone's lips! A very successful and memorable director's move was also the appearance of Bryl in the form of a car, and his lullaby to the bride of the enchanted bride invariably causes smiles. These two good characters for Ivanushka became the main advisers and assistants.
