The famous writer Douglas Preston

Douglas Preston is a famous science fiction writer who specializes in the genres of technotriller and mystical horror. Most of all, he is known for works written in co-authorship with Lincoln Child. In addition, Douglas Preston is also a successful journalist.

Who is it?

Douglas Preston was born on May 20, 1956 in Cambridge, Massachusetts, United States of America. Douglas moved to Claremont, where he entered the local college for the specialty "English Literature", which he graduated with honors.

After completing his studies, Douglas Preston worked at the American Museum of Natural History, located in New York. There he spent most of his time as editor, and then got promoted to the publication manager. In parallel, he taught English literature at the University of Princeton.

However, the beginning of a writer's career is connected with the museum. Just there he was inspired to write his first book, after which other works also followed.

Pendergast

Preston Douglas wrote many books for his life, but the most popular was the series about Alois Pendergast, co-written with Lincoln Child. The most outstanding and famous was the first book of the series, called "Relict".

The plot is tied up with the arrival at the American Museum of Natural History (in which Preston worked) a new exhibit from South America. And right after that, a series of mysterious deaths begins in the museum. And these are murders that are so bloody and ruthless that it becomes immediately clear that the murderer can not be a man. And the investigator Pendergast has to find out who is behind all this.

It was this novel that became the most famous of such an author as Douglas Preston. The books that followed him also received great recognition, especially the second and third part of the series, "Reliquary" and "Cabinet of Curiosities", in which the theme begun in the first part continues to develop.

Gideon Crewe

Another series, written by Preston in co-authorship with Child, is "Gideon Crewe". This is not such a large-scale series. It still includes four works, the last of which is written in 2016. But where did it all begin?

The first book of the series was the work "The Sword of Gideon", which tells how a talented hacker Gideon, who stole the greatest works of art, hacked the most impenetrable computer protection and skillfully avenged the murderers of his parents, becomes an agent of the US special services that entrust him with the task of delivering Important information to the Japanese physicist who is dying right before the meeting.

Wyman Ford

This series, started in 2005, is the work of Preston himself, without the support of Child. The first book, entitled "The Tyrannosaurus Canyon," tells how a well-known antiquarian hunter dies, leaving a secret cipher to an accidental witness. He begins to try to unravel the cipher, but does not even suspect that he is becoming the target just because he became the owner of these treasured figures.

What does this code hide? The main character hopes to find an answer to this question from a monk living in a distance from civilization. It turns out that this monk is an experienced cryptographer of the CIA who has retired. Will he be able to help the protagonist?

Naturally, these are just a few examples of the author's most famous books. A total of several dozen books came out of his pen, but the Pendergast series is still the most popular. It already has twenty parts, and twenty-one is on the way. It is reported that it may be on sale at the end of 2016 or early 2017.
