Delusion is the knowledge of a person who does not really correspond to reality, but is mistaken for the truth.

The concept of delusion is similar in meaning to lies. Many philosophers consider these definitions synonymous and put in one row. So, Kant claimed that if a person is aware that he is telling a lie, then such statements can be considered a lie. And even innocuous lies can not be defined as innocent, because a person who acts in this way, humiliates dignity, deprives others of confidence and destroys confidence in decency.

Nietzsche believed that delusion is something that underlies moral assumptions. The philosopher said that the existence of lies in our world is predetermined by our principles. What science calls truth is only a biologically useful form of error. Therefore, Nietzsche assumed that the world has value for us, and therefore represents a lie that is constantly changing, but never becomes closer to the truth.

Delusion is not an absolute fiction, not a figment of imagination and not a game of imagination. Most often this is how a particular person sees an objective reality without taking into account Bacon's remarks about idols (ghosts) of consciousness. In fact, delusion is the payment for the desire to get more information than is possible. If a person does not have certain knowledge, it will certainly lead him to the idol. That is, a subject that is incapable of correlating information about the object and about itself, will be deceived.

Some believe that delusion is an accident. However, history shows that it is only a payment for the fact that a person wants to know more than he can, but he is looking for the truth. As Goethe said, people who are looking for are forced to wander. Science defines this concept in the form of false theories, which are subsequently refuted when enough evidence is obtained. This was the case, for example, with the Newtonian treatment of time and space, or with geocentric theory, which Ptolemy put forward. The theory of delusions says that this phenomenon has an "earthly" basis, that is, a real source. For example, even images from fairy tales can be considered true, but only in the imagination of those who created them. In any fiction it is easy to find the threads of reality that are woven by the power of imagination. However, in general, such samples can not be considered true.

Sometimes the source of error can be the error associated with the transition from knowledge to the level of the senses to a rational approach. Also, misconception arises from the incorrect extrapolation of the experience of other people without taking into account the specific circumstances of the problem situation. Therefore, we can conclude that this phenomenon has its own epistemological, psychological and social grounds.

Delusion can be considered a normal and indispensable element in the search for truth. These, of course, undesirable, but well-founded sacrifices for the comprehension of the truth. While one can discover the truth, one hundred will be in error.
