The drug "Mukaltin" with a dry cough
Today, there is a fairly large number of different drugs used in this or that disease. Choosing what to take with a dry cough, many are turning to already tested medicines. At the same time, someone prefers to use drugs in a suspended form. So, for example, the syrup from a cough "Gerbion", possessing immunostimulating and antibacterial properties is popular enough.
Description. Indications for use
The preparation contains the althea extract as an active substance. The auxiliary component is sodium bicarbonate. Due to the fact that the plant extract is used, the "Mucaltin" remedy for dry cough is allowed for use in breastfeeding, as well as during pregnancy. However, doctors do not recommend taking the medicine within the first twelve weeks of the term. The agent is recommended for diseases of the respiratory tract of acute course, with bronchoectatic, obstructive pulmonary pathology of chronic course. The drug is also indicated for pharyngitis, laryngitis, bronchial asthma, tracheobronchitis and others.
Instructions for use
The drug "Mukaltin" with a dry cough for patients over the age of twelve is recommended in a dosage of fifty to one hundred milligrams not more than four times a day before meals. Duration of admission is one or two weeks. For patients under the age of twelve, a tablet is prescribed no more than four times a day. Dosage for pregnant and lactating women is determined by the attending physician individually.
Side effects and contraindications
The drug is contraindicated in patients who have not reached the age of three. No medication is prescribed for diabetes mellitus, renal diseases of severe course, intolerance to fructose, thrombophlebitis. Contraindications include individual intolerance, ulcerative diseases of the digestive system. When taking Mukaltin medication with a dry cough, allergic reactions may occur. As a rule, they are associated with the individual intolerance of the components of the remedy. At reception can be noted also a vomiting, a heartburn, a giddiness, a diarrhea, a headache. If any of these reactions occur, the drug should be withdrawn and consult a doctor. It should be remembered that the drug "Mukaltin" should not be taken simultaneously with medications that affect the cough center, in particular, containing codeine. Otherwise, difficulties in sputum production are likely, which can lead to complications of the underlying disease.
