The drug "Ciprofloxacin" (eye drops) is an antibacterial drug from the group of fluoroquinolones. The medicine is used in ophthalmology locally.

The preparation is made in the form of a yellowish or yellowish-green transparent solution. The active ingredient is ciprofloxacin. Auxiliary ingredients: ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid disodium salt, mannitol or mannitol, glacial acetic acid, three-water or anhydrous sodium acetate, water for injection, benzalkonium chloride.

The drug "Ciprofloxacin" (eye drops) has a bactericidal effect on gram-negative microorganisms during their rest and reproduction, on gram-positive bacteria - only during their division.

The drug is prescribed for keratitis, acute and subacute stage of conjunctivitis, keratoconjunctivitis, blepharitis, meibomite, blepharoconjunctivitis, bacterial ulcer of the cornea. The purpose of the drug "Ciprofloxacin" (eye drops) is indicated for chronic dacryocystitis, eye infections of an infectious nature after penetration of foreign bodies or trauma, in the postoperative period and in preparation for interventions in ophthalmic surgery.

The drug is not prescribed for keratitis viral nature, hypersensitivity, children up to a year.

During pregnancy and lactation, ciprofloxacin (eye drops) can be used on recommendation and only under the supervision of a doctor.

Taking the drug in some cases causes burning, itching, minor congestion and soreness of the conjunctiva, puffiness of the eyelids, nausea, a sense of the presence of a foreign object in the eye, lacrimation, photophobia. Sometimes patients feel an unpleasant aftertaste in the mouth after instillation. The use of the drug also causes, in some cases, the development of keratopathy, the appearance of crystalline precipitate (white), spots or infiltration of the cornea in patients with ulcer on the cornea.

With a moderately severe or mild infection, one to two drops are recommended per conjunctival sac (lower) of the affected eye (or two eyes) every four hours, with severe flow every two hours. After relief, the frequency and dosage are reduced.

Medication with caution is prescribed for patients with atherosclerosis in the vessels of the brain, convulsive syndrome, disorders in the cerebral circulation.

The drug is intended for local use only. Do not inject the solution into the anterior eye chamber or subconjunctivally.

Prior to appointment, the patient should be notified by a specialist that if the conjunctival hyperemia increases or persists while the drug is used for a long time, instillations should be stopped and consulted.

It is not recommended to use contact lenses, especially soft ones, during the treatment. If it is necessary to use them, rigid types of lenses are recommended. Before instillation they must be removed. Install them back should be no earlier than fifteen or twenty minutes after instillation.
