The government of St. Petersburg met this initiative and handed over to the Shostakovich school a monument of regional significance, an old building of the former factory of metal buttons of the Buch brothers on Vasilievsky Island, in need of reconstruction. It could easily accommodate a full-cycle school for teaching children from 1 to 11 class.

The majestic building of the end of the last century, which is a vivid example of industrial brick architecture, is permeated with the spirit of old Petersburg! Here, the children will be able to experience the full power of their native city, its great history and noble customs. And, of course, classes, dance and gymnastics halls will be much more spacious in it!

The preservation of the brickwork of the walls of the manufactory of Bukh, representing the basic value of the building, was given special attention during the entire course of the reconstruction.

We can say that no brick was damaged during it!
