The safety of the child in the car is taken care not only by parents, but also by the state, which has developed rules for the transportation of children in transport. And in particular it is a question of such a device as a device that holds. "FEST" is the most well-known and widespread in Russia means about which there is a lot of talk among parents.

What is it for?

In addition to the fact that the traffic rules require the child to be securely fixed while moving the transport, the adults themselves understand the necessity of having such a useful thing as a device holding. "FAST" is just one of the most famous brands.

During the movement of the car, a child can not only get injured as a result of an emergency, but even become its cause if it is not reliably fixed. And the usual seat belts here do not quite fit. And there are several reasons for this.

Why can not I use ordinary belts?

By all rules, the child must be fastened in the car. Why then do not fit ordinary belts that are located in the back seat? At least because if they fasten the child, they will go wrong, experienced in most cases, the respiratory tract, neck and thorax. This not only causes discomfort to the child, but is extremely dangerous.

That is why they advise, including the traffic police, the "FEST" device. Or any other that allows you to correctly distribute the belts: from the shoulder to the stomach and across it. That is exactly like an adult, when it is fixed in a car.

Is there an alternative?

Many parents are mistrustful of such an arrangement, as the device holding "FEST", giving preference to a children's car seat. Of course, in many respects, the latter outperforms all possible harnesses, belts and fasteners. But it is an order of magnitude higher. And many parents are required to transport the child, for example, only once a couple of months. And to acquire because of this an entire car seat - an unnecessary waste of money.

Another alternative device is called a booster. It is a foam pillow covered with a cloth. It is used as a substrate for the baby's ass so that the seat belts pass exactly where it is supposed to be. However, boosters have a significant drawback - too small a child is still not fixed in it quite rigidly, but too much space in it is not enough.

Is it so safe "FEST"?

Perhaps the issue of safety worries parents more than financial. And in this regard, the device holding "FEST" significantly loses to children's car seats. The crash tests carried out by all sorts of experts confirm this. Such locks during a severe accident, even if they keep the child from leaving the seat, still do not protect against injuries, most often in the abdominal cavity.

In addition, it is noted that the child in the collision of the car gets even a header or on his own knees, or on the seat of the front seat. On the other hand, if the transportation of the baby is carried out at a close distance, and the road is completely safe, then nothing terrible in the use of "FEST" is not noted.

Expert opinions

The restraint device for children in the car ("FAST") is not familiar to many foreign specialists, despite the fact that on the package with this fixator it is indicated that it fully complies with the safety rules established in the European Union. Therefore, foreign experts conducting crash tests of cars using the latest mannequins (Q-dummy), are unanimous in the opinion that it is impossible to use such means. They are unsafe for the child, because they lead to injuries, which are often not compatible with life.

From the security point of view, the child restraint device ("FEST" in particular) can not be used. Experts of foreign countries come to this opinion. And many Russian experts, too. However, the certificate to the device still says the opposite - approved, authorized, recommended.

Opinion of traffic police officers

Since many parents still get such locks not for security reasons, but because of the savings (fines for the child who has not been fastened significantly increased in the last two years), it will not be out of place to know how the employees of the road-service service react about this device. In most cases, they do not focus on it, allowing it to be used. And that is the basis. The use of FEST restraint devices is allowed, as they completely fall under the description of the structures that are prescribed in GOST R 41.44-2005.

What does this document say? A child car seat or any other control device, including a set of straps, flexible fastenings and fasteners with buckles or fasteners, is considered to be retaining. "FEST" under this description falls completely, it means that the traffic police officers simply do not have grounds for writing a fine.

Parents' opinion

All adults with children have shared in two opposing camps: some are vehemently opposed to holding devices, giving a lot of arguments and facts, others are of the opinion that such a fixator is quite enough for driving around the city or moving a short distance with a child in the car. Who is right and who is not - hard to say. So, many really do not have any reason to spend fabulous money on good and high-quality car seats, while others need this because of different circumstances.

It is worth noting that some parents who do not have their own car purchase a restraint device so that you can safely call a taxi and go on it with the child to their destination. Unfortunately, not all taxi cars are equipped with fixatives. Therefore, drivers, fearing a fine, simply do not take such passengers. "FAST", the price for which fluctuates around 250-400 rubles - is the best option for parents who do not have their own car.

Naturally, even such a frivolous, in the opinion of experts, the device has its own rules of operation. This is, first of all, the age category. According to the instruction, it is possible to transport a child with a restraint device from three years. At the same time, its weight should be at least nine kilograms. And only in this case you can use the "FAST" holding device. With how many years - it is understandable. But what about the kids?

Many parents who have children who have not reached the required age, fasten them with the help of "FEST". If the child's height allows this (110 cm), and the straps are positioned correctly, then there is nothing criminal in this. In addition to age there is another restriction. Only one child can be fastened! One device is one baby. And nothing else. The adapter, although it did not pass multiple foreign crash tests, is recommended and allowed for use on the territory of the Russian Federation, which means that any mom or dad can safely stick their child in the car without fear of getting a fine from the traffic police. And, naturally, it is important to try to avoid emergency situations on the roads.
