If you visit every day one museum a day, then to inspect them, you need to take a year off about one and a half. In addition, if it is a pensioner with a child, there may not be enough budget, although the cost of visiting is not too great.

The largest collection of Russian painting

The Tretyakov Gallery is the name of the world's largest museum of Russian painting. Everyone who appreciates our history and poetry of every corner of the country strives to get here. The artists displayed their inner world on canvases, with love and understanding collected by Pavel Sergeyevich Tretyakov.

PS Tretyakov, along with his brother, also a collector and philanthropist, grew up in the family of a merchant of the third guild. He received a home education, which allowed only to deal with commercial matters. But the innate taste, as well as the desire to benefit society led him to collect paintings by masters of Russian painting. His selection was impeccable. The purchase of the painting already meant that we have the highest class artist, and the workmanship is extremely high.

How the museum was created

The apartment house of Pavel Mikhailovich stood in Zamoskvorechye. There he placed his first acquisitions, made in 1856. The meeting grew rapidly and turned into an art museum. Moscow and the Muscovites have not yet realized what scope this venture will acquire. In 1874 a two-story building was built. It was connected with the house of Pavel Mikhailovich. Through a separate entrance, anyone could visit him.

This building was constantly being completed. In the end, it surrounded the house on three sides. Thus, an art museum was formed. Moscow received it as a gift in 1892.

XX century

After the death of the founder, the whole complex of buildings in Lavrushinsky Lane under the design of VM Vasnetsov was united by one common facade. This is how the whole world knows him. Years passed, guardians and directors changed, the exposition grew. Too much was stored in the storerooms. In 1985, it was decided that the State Picture Gallery would be merged with the Tretyakovskaya.

The second modern building, which has the Tretyakov Gallery (address: Krimsky Val, 10), demonstrates the art of the twentieth century. Soviet realism is represented by well-known names and magnificent works.

Museum of Western European Painting and Sculpture

The Pushkin Museum. Pushkin several times during his existence changed his name and, consequently, the essence of the collected collection. The name "Museum of Fine Arts" always lay at the base, and only in 1937 Moscow called this art museum the Museum of Fine Arts.

Creature

In 1893 IV Tsvetaev expressed an idea that had long been in circles associated with art, that it was necessary to build an art educational museum. His initiative was picked up, and the young architect RI Klein was chosen on the basis of the competition. An ancient temple with a colonnade and glass roofs in the inner courtyards-atriums became an example.

Without the funds of the patron Yu.S. Nechaev-Maltsev, the construction and selection of exhibits would have been protracted for a long time. He took over 2/3 of the expenses (more than 2 million rubles). The bookmark was held in 1898, and the grand opening took place in 1912.

Collecting exhibits

In the beginning, there were many plaster casts, Hellenistic and Roman sculptures and mosaics (copies). The state acquired the collection of the Egyptologist Golenishchev. They were scripts.

After the revolution, new halls are opened, to which exhibits of various museums and private collections are transferred. During the war, bombardments damaged glass ceilings, and for three years the halls were open to natural elements. After the restoration and opening of the museum in 1946, active replenishment of its exhibits begins. From the collections of the Moscow merchants S. Shchukin and I. Morozov, paintings of impressionists and post-impressionists arrive. Their work is the pride of the museum.

New buildings

The collection of works is constantly replenished, and all new areas are required for their placement. In 1985, the department of personal collections was opened in a separate renovated building at Volkhonka, 10. They are not disbanded, but are displayed so that they reflect the personal preferences of the collector. Now there are more than 7 thousand exhibits of the XV-XX centuries. The most valuable collection of I. Zilbernstein, consisting of two thousand copies.

In 2005, a new building was opened, which made it possible to extract paintings from the reserves of the second half of the XIX-XX centuries of America and Europe. The Pushkin Museum. Pushkin propagates the connection of times and peoples.

Brief description of the individual museums mentioned above

The Diamond Fund needs no introduction. This tiny room is amazing with the beauty of the precious stones collected here. It must be visited. For a long time, there will be an indelible impression.

The Armory Chamber is interesting for those who are engaged in applied art. Coaches of all ages and styles, art glass (all kinds of glasses, cups with gold or carved monograms), silver and gold items and royal apparel - a huge room (9 rooms) holds more than four thousand exhibits.

The East is represented by art exhibitions of India, Iran, Japan, China. You can spend hours looking at Japanese netsuke, lacquer ware, engravings and, of course, cold steel.

Burganov's House

The exposition includes not only a closed room (Ancient Greek classics, medieval sculpture, rare engravings), but also a sculpture museum (three sites) in the open air.

Alas, we do not have the opportunity to characterize all the museum sites in Moscow. But, seeing at least some of them, the visitor will not be disappointed.
