A lot of people nowadays like to go abroad for work. Such a concept as money transfer, for a long time and seriously entered into the everyday life of citizens of different countries. That is why the philistine has a lot of questions. One of the most popular networks for transferring money for today is the SWIFT translation system. But what is this and how to use it? SWIFT - what is it?
Total information
SWIFT translation system - what is it? What is the history of this network? The meaning of SWIFT is an abbreviation, under which it is necessary to understand the Community of Financial Interbank World Telecommunications. The SWIFT translation system is an international system for transferring information, making payments. It was founded in the early seventies of the twentieth century in Belgium. The headquarters is in the city of Brussels. According to official data, this network includes two hundred and twelve countries and more than ten thousand institutions. Through this system, there are more than twenty million different transactions per day. Among them there are interbank payments, financial messages, money transfers and others.
SWIFT system is not only money transfers
Sending transfers and transferring any data thanks to a system such as SWIFT has become much faster. Accordingly, the cost of transactions decreased. To deliver the message you need to spend only twenty minutes, and for an additional fee you can do it in five minutes. For comparison: the transmission of information through the telegraph takes more than two hours.
SWIFT - what is it? This is the largest network of international information transfer. It is absolutely reliable, efficient, safe and perfect messaging, money transfers through the system. The participants of this network include brokerage firms, banks, stock exchanges, central depositories, dealing centers, securities companies, investment mutual funds. On the territory of the Russian Federation there is an association "RossSvift", which includes almost six hundred users. Large credit institutions account for thirty percent of this amount, and they carry out with the help of this system almost eighty percent of all their calculations.
Advantages of SWIFT translation
Transactions using the above described system are advantageous if the amount is more than one hundred dollars in the United States of America, since a fixed commission has already begun. If the transfer is planned for less than one hundred dollars, it is recommended to use other options for instant money transfers: MoneyGram or Western Union, for example. SWIFT system - what is it? What advantages does it have? The main bright difference of this network from other alternatives is the choice of the widest range of currencies, the targeting of the transfer. All this in total makes working with finances much safer.
What are the disadvantages of the SWIFT system?
Naturally, any, even the best, system will have its negative sides. But if we talk about SWIFT, what are these shortcomings?
First, it is necessary to say about the increased commissions in individual banks and countries. For the transfer of funds to certain states, some banks establish an additional commission. A chain of intermediary banks can already raise the cost of a transfer in the event that the currency of the procedure is different from the national currency into which the transaction is received. Secondly, there are commissions that are levied on recipients. Since the funds go to the beneficiary's account in his bank, there is a certain payment for the procedure for cashing out the funds. I also want to add that SWIFT (translation) takes much longer (up to several days) than many other types of payments (which take an average of half an hour to a day).
What is necessary for SWIFT translation?
To carry out the transfer of money using this network abroad it is necessary to have an identification code, a passport and the following documents:
- The code is SWIFT of the bank to which the transfer will be made.
- The code of the international format of the bank account (IBAN), or the account number in favor of which the transaction occurs.
- The name of the company, the company or the full name of the recipient in whose favor the funds will be transferred.
- The name of the banking institution, in which the money will flow.
- SWIFT code and the name of the correspondent bank, in case the currency in which the transfer is made differs from that which is considered in the receiving country of the national one.
This type of transfer to date offers all more or less large banks.
Who needs the SWIFT translation system?
Despite the popularity of such international money transfer systems as Unistream, Manigram, Western Union, in some cases it is much more convenient to use SWIFT as an exchange network. All money transfers with the help of this system are much cheaper and convenient for payment of a whole range of services, whether it be medical care, study, booking rooms or orders, paying for purchases. SWIFT-translation is actively used to transfer money to relatives, pay for various activities (participation in conferences, tours).
Who pays for the transfer?
The peculiarity of such a phenomenon as the SWIFT translation system is that the transfer is carried out at the expense of the recipients. The main consumers of such transactions are regular customers making regular transfers. That is why a number of advantages have been developed in the form of the choice of the currency of the transfer, the absence of any limits on the amount (provided that the legislation of the country from which the transfer is received is not violated and where the funds go). As already mentioned above, the main positive points are based on the fact that the SWIFT system is designed to carry out transactions with large amounts. Hence, low tariffs, and payment at the expense of the recipient, which significantly distinguishes this network from competitors, and even more so from rapid transfer systems that are oriented to work with small amounts.
Cost of transfers in SWIFT system
Compared with competitive networks of international money transfers, SWIFT offers much cheaper transactions. However, this is really noticeable only when sending large sums, because there is a progressive scale of commission fees. For example, sending one hundred dollars of the United States of America through any other system of international transfers will cost between ten and twenty dollars. A transfer of the same amount through the SWIFT network will cost several times more - up to fifty conventional units. By the way, a lot depends on the bank, which performs the transaction.
But with the transfer of thousands of US dollars through large ICFTU commission will reach fifty dollars. It looks profitable system of transfers SWIFT, which charges for a similar amount of commission amount of only ten to fifteen conventional units. The most noticeable difference is when the amounts are over ten thousand. Here, the commission in the major MSDP will already be in the range of one hundred to three hundred and fifty dollars in the United States of America. But if a client would like to transfer money to a relative abroad, pay for a purchase or study, pay for a tourist trip using a network such as the international SWIFT translation system, then he will have to pay a transaction of ten thousand for a maximum of one hundred dollars.
