The SV-98 sniper rifle developed by the chief designer of Concern Izhmash Vladimir Stronskiy on the basis of the Sports Record-CISM rifle, its appearance and its constructive resemblance to its high-class predecessor, is designed to defeat a moving, emerging, open and unmasked rifle. Structural features of the trunk

Manufactured by horizontal cold forging from a single billet, the CB-98 trunk is produced on the machines of the Austrian company GFM. The entire process is programmatically controlled by a computer. Even the setting of the barrel billet, as well as its removal, are made automatically, with the help of a robot. After the forging process and the set time for aging, the stem channel is honed, and only then it is sent for heat treatment. By means of several pins, it connects to a rectangular box. The construction is fastened with two screws to the lodgment. The trunk is a freely posted, floating type. This is the standard solution for high precision weapons. On the trunk SV-98 there is a place for securing the silencer or muzzle brake. In this case, the pulling force is adjustable.

Muzzle

The muzzle on this weapon can be equipped with a silencer. But if there is no need, then on the muzzle, a protective sleeve has been heaped up, the originality of which is not only in its unusual appearance. Due to the thread feature, a certain shear stress is created, which improves fire accuracy. Heaviness with this also improves. As an alternative to both the bushing and the silencer, a flame arrester may be mounted on some specimens. It is designed to minimize the level of unmasking of the arrow-sniper, as well as to completely suppress the flame from the barrel. At the same time, it is also important that the muffler installed on the rifle does not at all degrade the accuracy of the shooting, besides, it reduces the energy generated by the recoil by approximately thirty percent, which makes it possible to shoot the rifle more comfortably.

Shock-and-trigger assembly

SV-98 - rifle, the shutter of which has as many as three fighting stops. At it sports type the shock-trigger mechanism with adjustable effort of descent. Fuse on CB-98 two-position type. SV-98 of the new generation is equipped with such open sighting devices as an open-type adjustable sight, having a distance scale from one hundred to six hundred meters with a step through every hundred meters, as well as a fly in the hanger, regulated horizontally and vertically. This rifle, in contrast to the famous "dragoon", is equipped with a different system of mounting the optics of the sight. The base of its flies is made by the original design, although the rear sighting device is almost completely borrowed from the SVD.

However, at SV-98 it is attached from above directly directly to the box by means of a device known among specialists called "dovetail". On the box there is an upper mounting bar for the sights. On some copies this is a seven-fold PKS-07, on others - a relatively more powerful "Hyperon", which is worked out according to the scheme 3-10х42. To carry out operations in the dark, a large range of night vision devices can be delivered to the rifle.

Butt

The forehead of the SV-98 rifle is equipped with two oblong vent holes. There is a notch on the pistol grip. The rifle attachment is fully adjustable. It is adjusted to the individual indicators of the arrow, for which an elevator cheek with a movable backplate is provided. The rifle is also equipped with adjustable wooden lodges, in the front part of which a fastening for a two-legged folding bipod is provided.

Sniper rifle CB-98 was originally developed for the most diverse ammunition of domestic and many foreign manufacturers. Its usual equipment includes a device designed for low-noise shooting, as well as a carrying handle with an antimatter belt, a visor-reflector located on the muffler. There is also a complete cleaning kit with a bracket for the optical sight.

Today, there is a new version of the SV-98 with a very popular and widely accepted standard in NATO troops, the Piccatini bar, the so-called Weaver rail, or the Weaver rail.

Characteristics

The rifle, created by Stronskiy, has very high accuracy, and also good and stable accuracy in combat. At a distance of up to three hundred meters, she fires a group of ten rounds in each rounds above the "Extra" class. With regular sniper rounds the shooter can easily stack all shots in a circle with a diameter of one hundred and thirty millimeters from three hundred meters.
