Stylus with your hands for thermal and capacitive screen

The market of modern gadgets has decided to remind us of forgotten styluses. Firm "sticks" recently presented to Apple; "Samsung" produces a line of styluses S-Pen for its product Galaxy Note. This device is also convenient for fans to paint on the screen of their smartphone or tablet. Make the same stylus with your own hands is quite possible quickly and without the use of expensive materials.

Resistive, capacitive and thermal screen

If you are burning with the desire to make your own stylus, first of all find out the type of touch screen of your device - this will directly affect the materials for your craft:

  • Resistive screen . This type reacts to absolutely any touch - a finger, a stick for sushi, a pencil, etc. Choose what you like best and your stylus is ready!
  • Capacitive screen . Such a touch screen responds only to the contact of conductive objects. Man also refers to them to some extent - our fingers, like ourselves, conduct current. This quality is possessed by all organic substances and creatures, as well as most metals.
  • Thermal screen . As is clear from the title, the display will react only to the touch of the object radiating heat. That's why it's difficult for us to work with such screens in conditions of Russian frosts.

We collect the capacitive stylus with our own hands

To start, stock up:

  • Ballpoint pen;
  • Aluminum foil;
  • With a cotton swab;
  • Scotch tape;
  • Scissors.

The assembly of the capacitive stylus looks like this:

  1. Remove the rod from the ballpoint pen.
  2. Cut off half of the cotton swab at an acute angle. Insert it into the position of the rod in the handle with the cotton head to the outside.
  3. Fix a cotton swab in the handle with an adhesive tape.
  4. Take a piece of foil and tightly wrap the handle, stepping back 1 cm from the cotton head.
  5. Fix the foil wrapper with a piece of scotch tape. A self-made stylus is ready!

To use this device, you need to have a glass of water at hand - for optimal work the cotton wool will have to be wetted from time to time. The capacitive screen does not deteriorate from the humidity of the stylus. Do not forget to keep your fingers on the foil all the time - this is necessary for static electricity to affect the display.

Additional ways

It's possible to make a stylus for a capacitive screen with your own hands and somewhat differently. For example:

  1. Take the aluminum tube, to one of its ends, attach a piece of antistatic sponge, which can be found in the boxes from the microcircuits.
  2. You can build a stylus with your own hands from the same handle without a rod, replacing the fleece with paper, and the foil with a metal-containing package made from chocolate, coffee, tea, etc.
  3. Some users prefer to use as a stylus a thin battery, bringing its negative pole to the screen.
  4. You can use one rolled in a tube antistatic film, fixing its shape with pieces of tape.
  5. A lightweight, non-scratching aluminum wand is also a good stylus. Only her head should not be too small, otherwise the screen simply will not "see" this object.

Assembling a heat stylus with your own hands

You will need:

  • Pen-pen;
  • Gel pen with a rubber band for fingers;
  • A piece of foil;
  • A piece of sponge for utensils or sponges;
  • Piece of cellophane.

It is not difficult to assemble such a stylus:

  1. From the helium handle leave only the body, and from the pen - the rubber band.
  2. Dampen the sponge with water.
  3. In order not to leave any stains on the screen, wrap the sponge in cellophane.
  4. Now insert the sponge into the cellophane in the handle. Push it with the same helium rod, slowly - so as not to harm the bundle. As a result, only a ball of the sponge wrapped in a sachet should be visible from the handle.
  5. Remove the finger rubber from the handle.
  6. Folding a sheet of foil twice, twist from it a thin flagellum.
  7. Place this rod of foil so that at one end it touches the sponge, and the second envelops the body of the handle.
  8. Make several turns of flagellum, put the elastic band in place. Part of the foil that will stick out over the rubber band can be cut. The stylus is made!

As you have seen, making the stylus your own hands is quite a "cheap and angry" easy way, that for a thermal one, for a capacitive screen. For a resistive display with a stylus, any convenient handy item can serve.
