The bodies of student self-government, which are created in higher educational institutions, may have different forms, to put it mildly - the Senate, the Parliament, the Starostat, student councils, deans, etc. The highest collegial body of student government is the general meeting (conference) of students of the institution. The decisions of these bodies are of an advisory nature.

It is advisable to involve students in making decisions on the organization of the educational process and its improvement. Students, however, may be useful and not useful in determining the quality, relevance of the educational material and the level of its teaching, as well as in identifying the competencies that we think should be formed. An effective mechanism for motivating students to participate in the affairs of an educational institution is their own systematic survey. At the same time, the participation of students is often formalized by their single and essentially "voiceless" representation in the collective bodies of higher education administration or by providing for the resolution of important but not the basic issues of the institution's activities - settlement in hostels, leisure activities etc.
