The types that we will tell you about are probably too strange to be included in the Olympic, but there are still followers of such hobbies that even hold competitions around the world - from local to international. This article discusses the most extreme and bizarre ones, so prepare - we will definitely surprise you. Here are 12 unusual sports.

Shahboks

Let's start with the strangest. Can you say how you can combine these two completely different sports? Yes, it's chess + boxing! In principle, both types are a strategic attempt to outwit the enemy. This is the ultimate goal, which requires the involvement of both the brain and the muscles. In this hybrid sport, players alternate rounds of chess and boxing, they try to either knock down each other, or arrange a mat for the opponent. The game lasts up to 11 rounds, and the winner is either the one who won as a result of chess, or the one who knocked the opponent out of the ring. In some cases, the winner is determined by the judges.

This kind of sport is mainly played in Germany and England. He got his popularity thanks to one comic book, which was published in 1992, his author is the French comic book artist Enki Bilal.

Competition with obstacles to the transfer of wives

This sport came to us from Finland. During this event, male rivals have to go through a number of obstacles, and the sooner they do it, the better for them, but every man should carry his wife on his back. There are three ways to transfer the spouse correctly: across the back, the fireman (over the shoulder) or the Estonian (on the back, upside down). The latter, obviously, is the most popular.

Diving

It's not just scuba diving, but swimming in a peat bog with a pipe and fins. The usual equipment for such sports is not allowed here, but it is recommended to wear conventional swimming trunks. The competition is held annually in Wales (UK).

Underwater hockey

This new hobby among Australian diving enthusiasts and fans of extreme sports, for which viewers watch on the monitor screens. The rules of underwater hockey are very similar to the classic game on ice. What's even more extreme is that the game is played under ice without oxygen, on a 6 x 8 meter wide ice rink. Each period lasts for 10 minutes with a 10-minute break for divers to warm up. Players must emerge after a dose of air every 30 seconds.

Quidditch

Yes, we all read books about Harry Potter or watched movies, and we all know what Quidditch is. For those who for some reason are not familiar with this sport, we will tell. Quidditch is a magical competition in which two teams take part, and in each of them there are seven players. They fly on broomsticks, and four balls are involved in the game. Players mount real brooms and try to throw balls into round hoops on opposite ends of the field, almost the same as in the book.

Bossabol

This team sport came to us from Spain. Bossball is very similar to volleyball, but also includes elements of football, gymnastics and capoeira. The game is played on a huge inflatable trampoline. Integrated additional trampolines on each side allow players to jump high enough to throw the ball. You will not believe, but this game is very addictive!

Polo on bicycles

This entertainment is much like ordinary polo, except that participants "saddle" unicycle to ride the ball. Imagine how hard it is, because they need to balance on one wheel and at the same time try to hit the ball. Seriously, if you are bored or want to kill time, try something like this. It's pretty fun.

Extreme ironing of clothes

It all started in England when a guy named Phil Shaw, who was bored, decided to move ironing to a completely different level. The meaning of this extreme sport is to take ironing boards and clothes and go to remote and unusual places where you will have to iron things and at the same time shoot everything on the camera or just take a photo. There is even a special television program called "Extreme ironing".

Games for the brave firefighters

Firefighters, too, are bored, of course, at a time when they do not save people's lives. So they came up with a game. The rules are quite simple: competitors climb on a high wall, install a ladder, and then climb to its top. The winner is the one who is faster than competitors at the top. This crazy sport implies the participants have the speed of a sprinter, the grace of a panther and the headdress of a climber.

Bubble soccer / Football with balls

The rules of the game are almost the same as in standard football. All you need is a ball and a bunch of friends. Using an inflatable ball, you can push and knock down other players and score the ball. If playing football is not so interesting, you can always try this strange variation.

Pumpkin Racing

In principle, any pumpkin lover can take part in this strange, but at the same time fun race. All you need to do is find a huge pumpkin and make a boat out of it, that is, hollow out the entire contents of the vegetable. It is also very important to somehow decorate your boat. So be creative! There are no special rules, but you need to swim very quickly. The bottom line is that it is not very convenient to manage such an unusual remedy on the water.

Throwing logs

This sport is special because, unlike the ones we mentioned earlier, it has historical roots. Throwing logs is a traditional Scottish sporting event in which rivals throw large wooden pillars. Nevertheless, the idea of the game is not to throw the log as far as possible, but rather to land the upper part of the log next to the person who throws it. And, of course, all competitors wear kilt.
