Soy protein. Advantages and disadvantages

Soy protein has recently become a fairly popular food additive. It is often recommended by nutritionists. But the special popularity of any protein is used by athletes.

It is worth noting that not all consider the soybean variant effective. After all, its biological value is very small. In contrast to soy is a whey protein and whole egg. They are preferred by athletes who need to gain weight.

Soy protein. Harm

Due to some drawbacks of this food supplement, it is completely avoided. The reason for this is the insufficient content of methionine in it, which is a sulfur-containing acid. This component plays a very important role in maintaining human immunity. Thanks to methionine, glutathione is also produced. It, in turn, is an important antioxidant. This substance performs a number of significant functions:

  • Protects the cells of the body from harmful compounds, and also displays them;
  • Prevents the oxidation of cholesterol.

In this regard, we can conclude that soy protein is less effective and useful for the body in terms of maintaining the immune system.

There is also an opinion that this supplement does not simply not lower the level of cholesterol in the blood, but, on the contrary, raises it. And this is a threat of atherosclerosis. This applies to soy protein, if it is not additionally enriched with methionine.

This is not the only disadvantage of such a protein. In addition, it contains dangerous ingredients that can interfere with normal digestion. They also slow down the process of absorption by the body of essential and very important nutrients. So, these components are:

  • Lectin. This vegetable matter is very dangerous for human health. Its use can lead to damage to the stomach and intestines.
  • Protease. An enzyme that takes an active part in the digestion of all proteins. In doing so, it significantly disrupts the function of other enzymes that help assimilate nutrients and proteins.
  • Estrogen. These substances inevitably lead to the formation of fat.

Soy protein. Advantages

After negative sides, it seems that soya, even positive, can not be anything. However, this is not so. Many harmful substances that contain food additives are removed during the manufacturing process. In this case, the protein is saturated with methionine. This allows you to increase the value of such a product.

In numerous studies, it was found that soy protein has the ability to reduce the number of life-threatening cancer cells. Often, doctors even prescribe the use of this supplement as one of the means of treating cancer.

Protein (soy) is also recommended for patients with cardiovascular problems. The fact is that the risk of heart disease consumption of this supplement significantly decreases. At the same time, there are no effects on the reproductive system of the body.

Scientists have long established the fact that soy protein favorably affects the thyroid gland, restoring its normal functioning. The intake of such an additive contributes to the fact that the production of thyroid hormones increases. And this property is unique.

The use of soy protein

For many there is a dilemma, whether it is worth taking such an additive or not. After all, it harms on the one hand, and on the other - it has many positive moments. The answer is very simple. You can consume a small amount of this protein. Nutritionists are even advised to use for a day not more than 30 g of the product.

And most people mix 2 different proteins, benefiting from one and the other together. Moreover, today there is no reason to believe that the use of several types of protein simultaneously leads to the loss of their properties.

It is recommended to take 30 g of soy protein a day, diluted with warm liquid. For this amount of supplement, 300 ml of milk or plain water is sufficient.
