Sound-letter analysis of the word: how to help the child fulfill it?

The sound-alphabetic analysis of the word is an indispensable part of teaching literacy. This skill in the school begins to form from the first grade and continues throughout the entire training period. After all, this is the basis of both reading and writing. However, very often such analysis of the word causes difficulties not only in children, but also in parents. Therefore, we will try to determine what this operation involves, and how to help the child better learn it.

If you start working with preschoolers or first-graders, they need, first and foremost, to determine and correlate the number of letters and sounds. In addition, it is necessary to classify them into vowels and consonants, and the latter, in turn, differentiate into soft and hard, deaf and sonorous, and so on.

It is very important to explain to children the differences between sound (what we say and hear) and the letter (what we read and write). This is best done in the form of a game, because in the primary school is very important motivation for classes. Traditionally, in textbooks that teach literacy, letters are written in different colors. Those that denote vowel sounds, most often, are depicted in red, and consonants - blue or green. Modern techniques also, in their majority, adopted this tradition.

Sound analysis of the word causes difficulties for a high school student, if at one time he did not understand the basics of this operation. So, it is noticed that the most mistakes children have in words, where there are letters "b" and "b". The fact is that in Russian they do not mean certain sounds, but serve as "separative" purposes (crossing, blizzard). Delivered after the consonant "b" is an indicator of its softness (stump). In such cases, the number of letters and sounds in the word will, of course, differ. The latter will be less, since what the letter designates as Hb will sound only in the speech as a soft H '.

The sound-letter analysis of a word begins with the definition of the number of syllables in it, and also the relation of letters and sounds. The latter are enclosed in square brackets in the letter . So, let's try to look at the analysis by the example of the word "letter".

In this word there are 2 syllables: a letter. The letters here are 6, and there are 5 sounds. Next we disassemble and characterize each of them separately.

The letter "P" is a consonant, denoted by a deaf sound, which in this case is mild. "And," a vowel, stands in an unstressed position. "C" - consonant sound, soft (indicated on the letter with the help of "b"), deaf. "M" - consonant, sonorous, hard. "O" is a vowel, stands in a shock position.

Over time, the sound-letter analysis of the word becomes more complicated, and further tasks are given such as "МОЕТ", "ВЮЮГА", etc., in which E, E, Ю, Я include two sounds at once. I must say that these cases cause difficulties for many schoolchildren. Therefore, it is necessary to remember such situations. This includes words when E, E, 10, H are immediately at the beginning of a word, and also after L and b or a vowel.

Before you can make a sound-letter analysis of a word, you need to pronounce it aloud. Do not automatically translate letters into sounds, as this can lead to errors. Do not start immediately with difficult cases. To begin with, the child must learn elementary things and bring them to automaticity. You also need to remember that the characteristic is given not to letters, but to sounds.
