Sleep and sport - how is this connected?

We all know that sleep is an indisputable human need, and its absence, or lack of sleep, leads to a variety of health problems, and these are various pathologies, problems with the cardiovascular system, diabetes. And this entire list is complemented by obesity, with such a cherry on the cake of disease.

In the United States in 1982, a curious experiment began, in which people of different sexes aged between thirty and forty-five years old took part. Twenty years later, disappointing results were summed up, those of the subjects who slept less than seven hours a day after twenty years suffered from obesity.

But for the medical community this was not news. Simply, this experiment confirmed the old hypotheses and the theses put forward by thousands of doctors. In fact, obesity is now a problem for the whole civilized world, and for good reason, because there are a lot of factors in the world that contribute to this. These are factors such as an excess of calories and the lack of a way to spend it, a diet rich in fats and carbohydrates.

And it turned out one curious feature, for the twentieth century, the time that an ordinary person sleeps has decreased by an hour and a half. Simply technical progress has knocked us out of the usual twenty-four hour track. Our watches are lost, and the rhythm of life has changed.

By the way, it is very convenient to have a projection clock at home. They display time on any surface. For example, on the ceiling. Imagine, you open your eyes at night and see large figures above you.

Research scientists came to a certain figure, in order to function properly a person only needs eight or nine hours of sleep. But each person this figure varies by plus minus half an hour - an hour. After all, each of us has our own needs. The more we do not sleep, the more active our brain seeks to put us to rest. The body always seeks to restore balance.

Later, at a conference in Vancouver, the problem of obesity was discussed against sleep. From the point of view of evolution, sleep is the same thing a person needs as food or sex. And the fact that sleep is a remedy for all diseases and the key to longevity, this has already been clarified a lot, many years ago.

On the one hand, it seems like spending less time sleeping, we thereby increase the duration of the day and manage to remake more useful things. But actually it is not. People who sleep little sleep voluntarily reduce life and call for illness. It is also worth noting that when the body is not fast, the body produces a hormone called cortisol, which is a regulator of carbohydrate metabolism of the body and takes part in the development of stress reactions. Cortisol has a daily rhythm of secretion: the maximum concentration is noted in the morning, and the minimum in the evening. Thus, in those who sleep a little, the balance between the hormone responsible for appetite and the hormone responsible for excess weight is disturbed.

So healthy people are those who sleep well. But sleeping too long is also not recommended. It should also be noted that in bodybuilders, muscles grow well only with a minimum of cortisol, and when they are not enough, it is actively produced.
