Signs are ... People's signs and superstitions: the meaning and characteristics
What does the word sign mean? Signs are a connection between two events, when one of them happens as a fact, and the second as a consequence. In this case, the factual phenomenon is perceived as a sign, which is interpreted in a certain way, and entails events occurring after it.
Where did this come from
Signs and superstitions are rooted in antiquity. Before, people did not understand many phenomena, but noticed a certain connection between certain events. The very word "sign" comes from "note." So the human brain is arranged to search everywhere for cause-effect relationships and try to somehow predict the future. If people noticed that an event follows a certain event, and this was repeated more than once, it was later interpreted as a sign. What is the meaning of the word "sign"? It is explained as the foreknowledge of an event, bad or good. Signs and superstitions are so firmly entrenched in the human mind that, despite all the scientific and technological progress, they continue to be passed on from generation to generation, and many people believe in them in the same way as in ancient times.
Signs are good and bad. Some people can manage themselves (as, for example, get up in the morning with the right foot - that the day is a success, or in case of forgetfulness and the need to return to the house - look at yourself in the mirror to take the failure). And some occur regardless of the will of the people (the bird hit the window, crows croaked over the house and stuff).
Good signs
Faith in good signs helps a person to tune in to a positive mood, because they are treated as a help of light forces, protecting and protecting from evil. Many people in the modern world understand that the so-called "good sign" - not always promises 100% luck. But when, for example, a person sees a rainbow, considered a harbinger of happiness, then let it be for a split second, but in the soul a hope will arise.
Signs for the fulfillment of desires
There are a number of signs that promise luck. For example, if you cross a triple-colored cat, this is good. Or if you see a beetle on the road in flight, it's also a good omen. However, the most significant period of time for performing rituals for the fulfillment of desires is the New Year. It is believed that it is on this magical night, if you make a wish for the chiming clock - it will certainly come true. So it is or not, but from year to year, most people do just that. Some still write their desire on paper and burn it, believing that it will bring success.
Bad omens
It is peculiar for a person to quickly forget the good, taking it for granted, but at the same time to focus their attention on unpleasant events. Therefore, there are many signs in the world "not for good". Bad signs are when certain phenomena are perceived as signs that are indicative of negative events. The danger of believing in bad signs is that a person preprograms himself for failure, interpreting an event as a bad sign. If you set the setting to negative, it is quite possible that the trouble will indeed happen, and it is not the fault that is to blame for it, but the persistent conviction that something bad must necessarily happen. What we attract to ourselves is, as a rule, we get. Therefore, do not pay too much attention to any signs that promise troubles.
Signs about birds, animals and insects
Everyone knows a sign about a cat of black color.
Household signs
There are a lot of signs related to everyday life. Such signs are a collection of signs that can be observed in everyday life from day to day. For example, there is a belief that spilled salt will certainly lead to quarrel.
Signs about the weather
Much will also be associated with weather conditions. There are they to rage, rain or, on the contrary, to good weather. For example, a quiet forest - to a thunder-storm; Crows crow and daws - to the rain; And if in the evening a flock of mosquitoes twist - this is favorable weather. There are signs related to the months of the year. For example, the signs of September: soft autumn portends a protracted winter; If in September there are often thunderstorms - it means that autumn will be warm; If there are many acorns on the oaks, Christmas will be snowy. Almost every day of any month there are their own beliefs. Many people believe that people's signs and their significance help to predict the weather for the coming seasons. So it's or not, it's hard to judge. On the one hand, people have accumulated experience for centuries, on the other - not always beliefs come true. From this it follows that it is possible to know the signs about the weather and it will not hurt, but it's probably not worthwhile to rely on them completely.
Contradiction will take
What are the signs and superstitions of different peoples? The same events in different countries can have absolutely opposite meaning. Practically there are no universal signs, which throughout the world would be treated equally. The same notorious black cat, whom we do not like, in England, for example, brings luck and prosperity.
The clergy's opinion on superstition
In no way does the church encourage faith in any signs. And that's why. What is the sign, according to the Church? Priests believe that superstition rooted in paganism with its roots, when people worshiped not idle God, but invented idols. Not knowing how to explain these or other events, people endowed with supernatural abilities various physical phenomena, non-spiritual objects. There were whole rituals, how to cause rain, how to cajole the spirits of the harvest and so on. After the Messiah came to earth and gave the true faith to mankind, to continue worshiping idols is a sin. Superstition is a belief in vain, empty, something that makes absolutely no sense. Believe it is necessary only in the Divine protection and rely only on the Creator.
What is a sign? This is what you can believe in, and what you can ignore. Everyone chooses for himself. However, one should always remember that it is not worthwhile to become a hostage of superstitions and to build one's life on some sights. This can develop into a phobia and a painful addiction. Observance of empty rituals, as well as expectation of something bad after seeing "signs" can significantly poison life and bring considerable harm. It is better to always believe in good, and hope for a favorable outcome of any business.
