Shelepin Polina: the undiscovered asterisk of figure skating

Often in sports it is not enough to have only one talent to fully reveal your potential. Sports anger, a thirst to win at any cost - some of these qualities was not enough for Polina Shelepen to successfully move from junior figure skating to adult level. Having mastered in 12 years all the technical arsenal of her adult colleagues, she had already finished with 19 large sports and went into coaching.

First steps

Polina Sergeevna Shelepen was born in Moscow in 1995. In figure skating, she came because of her dislike for the kindergarten. Every morning the girl started crying, so her parents decided to give Polina to some sports section. In 4 years she falls into the group of Eteri Tutberidze. Then the coach was engaged in athletes 9-10 years. And the baby did not want to take it at first. But, looking narrowly at the insistent crumb, the tutor took her to her. Everyone realized that the girl was serious about great achievements, when in 2003 at the memorial "Beetle" Polina Shelepen came out for the first time. The figure skater competed with rivals for two or three years older than herself and did not qualify for the final of the competition. However, this failure greatly aroused the athlete. And a year later she made great progress, entering the number of eleven best in the finals of these competitions.

Achievements in juniors

Already at the age of twelve Shelepen Polina mastered almost all the baggage of technical elements of adult figure skaters, including cascades of triple jumps. Season 2007-2008 is a breakthrough in the career of a young athlete. At the Russian championship in 2007, among the boys and girls Pauline is sent to the status of an unknown skater. Eteri Tutberidze psychologically unloaded the girl, saying that she just skated for fun, not focusing on rewards. However, Polina brilliantly rolled back her program and outstripped all rivals. This season has become very successful for the girl. Then the girl received the silver of the Spartakiad of Russia, the bronze of the junior championship of the country. Only the age limit did not allow the athlete to make his international debut in the same year. Its first stage Grand Prix Shelepin Polina won with a big advantage, beating the opponent by two ten points. The victory in the second tournament brought her to the final of the whole series, where she lost only to Japanese Murakami. The next couple of years the girl continues to collect awards at junior tournaments.

Early completion of sports career

It so happened that the figure skater performed at the time when the generation that represented Lipnitskaya, Sotnikova, Tokhtamyshev grew up. Prospects athletes to enter the national team at the adult level have become vague. In order to be able to perform at major international competitions, Shelepin Polina in 2013 makes a difficult decision about changing sports citizenship in favor of Israel. However, the Olympic Committee refused to represent her new sports home at the Games in Sochi in 2014. In the same year, the athlete unexpectedly announces the end of her sports career. So begins her coaching at the age of 19 years.

Shelepin Polina early completed her performances, without even going over to the adult level from junior competitions. However, she managed to leave her contribution to the Russian figure skating. The famous short program by Julia Lipnitskaya for the music from the movie "Schindler's List" was originally coined by Eteri Tutberidze for Polina Shelepen. Many proposals were made by the young figure skater, even the red color of the dress was chosen by her. It remains only to wait for the successful implementation of the former sportswoman in coaching.
