Sheiman Viktor Vladimirovich: how the military became a friend of the president

The former head of the presidential administration of the Republic of Belarus Viktor Sheiman is a very mysterious person. Despite the fact that he is always under the sights of journalists, there is practically no data about him. However, even an official dossier and several short interviews are enough to understand what kind of politician.

Sheiman Viktor Vladimirovich: biography of early years

Victor Sheiman was born in the village of Soltaniszki, Voronovsky district. It happened on May 26, 1958. About his parents, nothing is known, since the politician prefers to remain silent about his personal life. As for Victor himself, he once admitted that he had dreamed of wearing a uniform from an early age. Therefore, I saw my future either in law enforcement agencies or in the service of the state.

That is why Sheiman Viktor Vladimirovich first entered the Tank Higher Command School, and then into the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Belarus. In addition, this statesman can boast of having served on the Airborne Forces.

Career Military

After demobilization, Vladimir Sheiman did not want to return to civilian life. Severe military life was closer to him, because he could defend his homeland. It should also be mentioned that he took part in the military campaign in Afghanistan, from where he returned to the officer rank. Co-workers described him as a steel man, able to withstand any stresses. In the company of Sheiman they called Tiger. This was due to the fact that he possessed the strength and grasp of a wild beast. And if he had already chosen a victim, only death could stop him. Such an unbending character helped the military to attain the rank of major and obtain the post of deputy commander of the airborne division.

Going into politics

In 1990 Sheiman Viktor Vladimirovich is running for the Belarusian parliament. He quite simply collects the necessary number of votes and soon becomes a full-fledged deputy of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Belarus. Here he is given the post of secretary of the council on defense, national security and the fight against organized crime. In this post, he remains until 1994.

The beginning of friendship with Alexander Lukashenko

In 1994, presidential elections were held in Belarus. In this race for the post of head of state Sheiman Viktor Vladimirovich takes side of Alexander Lukashenko. This choice was due to the fact that the former military saw in politics an unbending will and a desire to change the country for the better.

Young people quickly found a common language. Vitaly Sheiman even undertook the organization of the election campaign, which, incidentally, was very successful. Thanks to her, Alexander Lukashenko became a clear favorite among the people, which greatly frightened his competitors. As a result, on June 16, 1994 Alexander Grigoryevich was assassinated. It happened on the roadside road. Then the unknown people shot the candidate's car from the machine gun, and only by a miracle that day nobody was hurt. At that moment, Viktor Sheiman, who tried to protect his future elect with his body, was also present in the car. After these events, he became not only a political ally of the president, but also one of his close friends.

Political career

After the coming to power of Alexander Lukashenko, Viktor Sheiman's career has sharply increased. In this case, it was not only the friendship of two people, but also the qualities that the former soldier possessed. His training, combat experience and a penetrating mind became a sharp sword of the state, capable of both protecting and punishing.

So, the first place of work of Viktor Sheiman became the post of state secretary of the Security Council of the Republic of Belarus. And in December 1995 he was promoted to the Minister of Internal Affairs. Thus, Sheiman Viktor Vladimirovich became head of law enforcement agencies, which allowed him to completely reorganize the country's police.

The next honorary post was the place of the Prosecutor General of Belarus. In this position he stayed from 2000 to 2004. The next two years, the politician held as the head of the presidential administration of the Republic of Belarus. Such appointments were fully justified, since Sheiman possessed not only extensive management experience, but also unshakable confidence on the part of Alyaksandr Lukashenka.

After the explosion in Minsk

In March 2006, Viktor Sheiman became secretary of the Security Council of the Republic of Belarus. And, on July 4, 2008, an explosion was heard in Minsk. As the investigation will show, the blame for all the terrorist act. All responsibility for this tragedy fell on Sheiman, since it was his department that was supposed to eliminate such threats.

On July 8, 2008, Viktor Vladimirovich was removed from his post. However, Lukashenko's anger did not last forever. He understood that such a miscalculation was not the fault of the secretary of security alone. Therefore, in January 2009, the head of state appoints him as his assistant at large. Today Sheiman Viktor Vladimirovich is the manager of the affairs of the President of the Republic of Belarus. He joined this position in January 2013 and is not going to change it soon.
