Serial killer Robert Maudsley: biography, accusations and history

Robert Maudsley is a man guilty of the death of four people. However, he became famous not only because of these murders, but, most likely, because he ate an essential part of the brain of the person he killed. It is for this reason that he received his nickname "The Cannibal Hannibal".

The family of the future cannibal. Biography

Robert Maudsley was born in the summer of 1953 in the UK, or rather, in the city of Liverpool. The family of the future criminal was huge, except for Robert in it there were still eleven children. Childhood Mawdsley passed in his hometown in the Crosby area. However, he was not brought up in the family, but in the orphanage Nazareth House. This institution was run by nuns. Robert's family did not have a special display of affection for their offspring, but, on the contrary, children constantly fell from their parents, or rather from their father. The parents, who used physical violence against children, were deprived of parental rights for a while, and the children were distributed by the guardianship authority for orphanages and adoptive parents. Robert Maudsley began to wander around foster parents and psychiatric hospitals. As Maudsley later told of his father, he wished to see him only in order to beat him.

Drug Dependence and Body Trade

In the late sixties, Maudsley became addicted, at first intermittently, and then began to use heavy narcotic drugs. Then the teenager has not even reached adulthood. To acquire drugs for something, Maudsley began to sell his body to men, that is, began to engage in prostitution. The first money for narcotic substances was enough, but each time the teenager became more and more depressed. In the end, Robert Maudsley tried to commit suicide, but the desired result did not end there. After several such attempts, he decided to act differently, namely, to seek psychiatric help.

Reviews

Familiar people spoke about Robert Maudsley positively, everyone considered him to be a very calm and balanced person. Moreover, later people talked about him as a well-bred and intelligent gentleman. He did not have the qualities and appearance that psychos and maniacs usually have. Robert Mawdsley was not at all like that.

Statements by Maudsley

During the medical examination, Maudsley showed himself to be a unique person who has immense intellectual abilities. But at the same time, at the same surveys, the criminal stated that some inner voices were calling him to kill his parents, who had caused so many unpleasant moments of life to the boy. Under the statement of the future cannibal, parents in the childhood have subjected it to rape, and it was the reason of failure in its consciousness, that is the reason of a psychological trauma. Later, he made a statement to law enforcement agencies and medical workers that if he had eliminated his parents earlier, then perhaps subsequent victims and crimes would not have happened.

Murder

The first murder of Maudsley was committed in 1974. It so happened that the usual hard worker, who had intimate business with Robert, showed the last photos of the children on which they were shown. These children were victims of rape. Perhaps, recalling the past, Robert Maudsley was enraged, as a result of which this worker was strangled by him. After a short time, the criminal was detained by the police. Next, of course, was the court. Judgment sentenced Maudsley was sentenced to imprisonment. Term - life imprisonment. At the same time, there was no right to early release.

However, Robert Maudsley did not go to jail, but to the hospital for mentally ill people. Under escort, he was taken to the Brodmur hospital, which contained all mentally unbalanced criminals. There Maessley initially received the nickname "Blue". This nickname was associated with prisoners with the color of the victim's face.

The next murder and cannibalism

In 1977, the murderer Robert, along with another mentally ill prisoner, grabbed another convict who was serving his sentence. The latter was sentenced to imprisonment for pedophilia. Maudsley and his partner took him hostage, locked in a separate cell. There, both prisoners subjected their victim to numerous tortures and bullying. At the end, after they were both tired, the hostage was killed. The security guards who entered the cell, who could not get into it for a long time, because of what the door had to be broken, were in the true sense of the word dumbfounded and shocked by what they saw. In the open skull of the pedophile was a spoon, and part of the brain of the dead disappeared. The guards and forensic experts searched the entire cell, but the missing brain was never found. Everyone decided that part of the human brain was eaten by Robert Maudsley, the villain, who after that incident was called "Spoon". For this crime Robert was convicted, again sentenced to imprisonment and sent to another prison. However, Maudsley wanted to return back, because in Wakefield's new prison he did not like it. The authorities did not deem it necessary to satisfy the demands of the imprisoned criminal.

Two more murders

Another two inmates of the Wakefield Prison died at the hands of the cannibal of Maudsley in 1978. One of these two became Salny Darwood. He was convicted to imprisonment for sexual crimes. Robert Maudsley managed to lure Darwood into his cell, where, taking advantage of the tucked-in moment, he attacked him. At first the criminal tried to strangle his victim, but then, apparently, changed his mind or decided that he could not cope, inflicted several stab wounds to vital organs. Salni Darwood died almost immediately, and after that Maudsley pushed the dead man under his bunk, so that he could not be seen.

Having done all these actions, Robert Maudsley continued to carry out his criminal intent. He began to call other prisoners with him for the purpose of murder, but no one responded to his appeals, since they did not talk to him and were, if to put it mildly, in an enemy relationship. Then Robert Maudsley, not desperate to carry out his plans, decided to go himself to his victim. Unbeknownst to steal up to Bill Roberts, Maudsley stabbed him with a knife. Not stopping at the achieved, Robert Maudsley began to deal his opponent with punches, and then completely smashed his skull against the wall.

Then, Robert Maudsley, a serial killer, walked calmly into the room to watch the security guard on duty, put a bloody knife in front of him, saying that at night the guard would miss a couple of prisoners.

Transfer to a special camera

In 1983, the administration of the prison institution after the listed crimes Maudsley concluded that the psychopath is too dangerous for all prisoners. From a simple and ordinary camera, it was decided to transfer Maudsley to a special room, from which he could neither escape nor harm anyone. Since there was no such special camera in the institution, the authorities decided to build and equip a new one. To do this, two ordinary cells were connected, located in the basement of the prison. In them, and was placed a maniac.

Only once a day Robert Maudsley is allowed to walk outdoors, the duration of this walk is one hour. The size of an isolated cell in which the psychopathic killer is serving a sentence is only 6 x 3.5 meters. From the time Maudsley was transferred to this cell, he had not once made contact with any prisoner. Furniture in the room, which contains the famous maniac, is made of pressed cardboard, and all other necessary items are tightly fastened to either the walls or the floor of the camera.

A few more facts about Mawdsley

It was Robert John Maudsley who became the prototype of Hannibal Lecter from a feature film shot by Hollywood filmmakers, entitled "The Silence of the Lambs." However, Maudsley himself hardly knows about this. Now he refuses to communicate with almost everyone, does not enter into a dialogue even with doctors.

Currently, Robert Maudsley is very seriously ill and, it is possible that in the near future he will die. Many scientists, both in Britain and elsewhere, wish to have his brain after Maudsley's death in order to examine him. Even some offer for such an opportunity to pay a sum of thirty-eight thousand euros.

That's all that society knows about a criminal man named Robert Maudsley. His biography is rather stingy due to the fact that he spent most of his life in prison, and even under the laws of the UK, declassifying information on serial criminals is allowed only after a hundred years.
