Seraphim of Sarov Akathist. Akathist to the holy Monk Seraphim of Sarov. Predictions of Seraphim of Sarov

"The Chosen Miracle-Worker and the Precious Prelate of Christ ..." - so begins the pleasant sound of the Akathist to St. Seraphim of Sarov. The great prophet and miracle worker Seraphim of Sarov was glorified in the face of saints. He was a wise, humble guardian of the Law of God, a teacher and mentor of all laymen. A lot was built up to the holy saint Seraphim of Sarov, akathists and laudatory prayers. Icons with its image are almost immediately recognizable and always honored.

Seraphim of Sarov Akathist

Many prayers are constantly raised to our father Seraphim. Twice a year, the days of his memory are celebrated, this is January 15 (Reformation) and August 1 (Acquisition of the relics). In these days, the blessed saint of God, Seraphim of Sarov, reads the akathist and troparion - laudatory hymns, in order to thus glorify himself and honor his memory.

He prayed all his life and protected the whole human race from the wrath of God, but to this day he tirelessly prays for the salvation of the human soul and helps people. There is much evidence that the akathist dedicated to Seraphim of Sarov contains a great miracle-working force. The Elder had the gift of prophecy. Predictions of Seraphim of Sarov still do not cause any doubt.

Prokhor Moshnin

Prokhor Isidorovich Mashnin was born in the city of Kursk on July 19, 1754 in the wealthy merchant family of Isidor and Agafya Moshnin. His father had brick factories and was engaged in the construction of buildings and stone churches. At the end of his life, he took a contract for the construction of the cathedral in Kursk (today it is the Sergiev-Kazan cathedral, founded in 1752), but, unfortunately, in 1762 he died, and his work was unfinished. His wife, Agafya Moshnina, began to continue the construction of the cathedral.

It so happened that she took with her seven-year-old Prokhor to a high bell tower, and he, falling childishly and negligently stumbled, fell from her. And surprisingly, he remained unharmed, because the Lord had prepared for him an entirely different fate. Today in memory of this event on the site of the fall in the lower church of the Sergiev-Kazan Cathedral there is a monument with the image of the face of the Great Wonderworker and the Prophet Seraphim of Sarov.

Young Prokhor attended church services, learned to read and read often to his contemporaries the Holy Gospel and the Life of Saints.

Once, Prokhor became very ill, and he had a vision of the Mother of God, who promised to heal him. And when the procession crossed through the Moshniny estate, the mother took the sick son and put his head to the icon of the Sign of the Blessed Virgin Mother of God, after which the disease receded.

The novice of the monastery

Soon Prochorus had a desire to go to the monastery as a novice. His own mother blessed him and presented him with a crucifixion, which he carried on his breast to the end of his life. Then, along with other pilgrims, he makes a pilgrimage from Kursk to the Kiev-Pechersk saints. There, the elder Skhimonah Dosifei blessed him to go to the service in the Holy Assumption Sarov desert, founded in 1691, transformed in 1706 in the city of Sarov (Nizhny Novgorod region).

Having said goodbye to his family and mother, in 1778 he went to the Sarov desert, where his father Pachomius affectionately received him, who put him to the spiritual elder Joseph. Prokhor became his novice and fulfilled all his duties with great diligence and zeal.

Following the example of other monks, he begins to retire into the forest for solitude and Jesus' prayer, the blessing was given to him by the elder. But two years later the young novice fell ill with dropsy and suffered terrible suffering, but did not complain. The whole of the brothers, led by Father Joseph, tried to help him with everything she could.

For three years he survived the disease, Prokhor did not want to see doctors, because he believed that he gave himself to the True Physician Jesus Christ. Once, after the sacrament of the Holy Mysteries, the mother of the Mother of God appeared to him at night, accompanied by John the Theologian and the Apostle Peter. She poked her wand in the side of the patient, the liquid from it immediately flowed out, and Prokhor went on to recover. After a while, on the site of the appearance of the Mother of God, a church for the sick was built, consecrated in the name of the holy Monk Zosima and Savvatiy Solovetsky.

Inocic feat

After spending eight years in the Sarov monastery, the young Prokhor took monastic vows, and was baptized by Seraphim. During the church services, he several times saw assisting the service of the Holy Angels. But one day during the next service in the church, the visionary wonderworker Seraphim of Sarov saw through the air of Jesus Christ walking surrounded by the Bodiless Celestial Powers. The Lord blessed the worshipers and after that he entered the image near the royal doors. After such a vision, the monk Serafim began to pray even more intensely. At the age of 39, he becomes a hieromonk. After the death of his father Pachomiya, having a blessing from him and from Isaiah's father for a new feat, he travels a few kilometers to a deserted cell in the forest.

In the monastery, he appeared only on Saturdays for the sacrament and the adoption of the Holy Mysteries. The Holy Gospel, along with other Liturgical books, has always been with him. In severe feats he turned his life.

Near the cell he had a small garden and a bee-garden. He ate once a day, and on Wednesday and Friday and at all refused food.

St. Seraphim of Sarov fully devoted himself to prayer, sometimes he could lie still for a long time. The brother who visited him, finding him in such a state, quietly retired, so as not to interfere with his contemplation. In addition to the brethren, the laity were drawn to him.

But then he wanted to be completely alone and with the blessing of the abbot he stopped all the methods, the path to it was overgrown, and the branches were closed by the branches of age-old pines. From now on he was visited only by wild beasts, whom he fed with bread.

The Scourge of the Devil

Devil's offspring feats of Father Seraphim of Sarov did not like at all, and they began to frighten him. But the fearless Reverend Father shielded himself with relentless prayers and the Force of the Life-giving Cross. Saint Seraphim of Sarov prayed on a stone for a thousand days and nights. Then the devil wanted to kill him and sent robbers to him. They came to him when he worked in the garden, and they began to demand money.

St. Seraphim of Sarov was very strong physically and, holding an ax in his hands, could cope with them, but remembering the words from the Gospel: "Whoever took the sword from him and perishes", he did not fight back.

The brutal bandits beat him very badly and broke his skull. Not finding money in the cell, ashamed of their deed, they went away.

The next morning the wounded monk Seraphim of Sarov hardly reached the monastery. The whole fraternity was horrified by what was seen and called the doctors, but the doctors did not use it. He had a vision - again the Queen of Heaven appeared to him with John and the apostle Peter and touched his head, after which he was healed again.

The feat of silence

Five months later the elder Seraphim again returned to the deserted cell. He walked, already leaning on his staff, remaining after the attack of the robbers hunched. He forgave his offenders. After the death of Isaiah's father, his former friend from his youth, he vows to remain silent for three years and even ceases to visit the monastery. The new abbot was Father Nifont. He, along with the brother, asked the elder Seraphim to return to the monastery. And after 15 years of hermitage, Seraphim returned to the desert. But without interrupting silence and hermitage, he was constantly in Bogomyslii.

Father Seraphim was gifted with a special gift of wonderworking and foresight and became a revered old man. In 1825 the Mother of God again appeared to him and ordered him to receive people who demanded consolation and instruction. Now he has become the healer of human souls and hearts. He addressed the visitor affectionately and with emotion, not otherwise than "my treasure," "my joy." In the last years of his life he was very anxious about his child, the Diveevo women's monastery.

One day one of the healed saw the reverend St Seraphim, who was hanging in the air. But the Holy One forbade him to tell about this before his death. Almost two years before the death of the Monk the old man was visited again by the Queen of Heaven with the saints John the Baptist, John the Theologian and twelve martyr-virgins. She warned him that he would soon be with them. At this marvelous phenomenon there was one Diveevskaya starets, for which the Monk Elder prayed.

Leaving this world

Saint Seraphim gradually began to weaken and began to prepare for his own demise. In the passage was the coffin prepared by him, and he often stood beside him. Then the wonderworker pointed to the place where he wanted to be buried - near the altar in the Assumption Cathedral. On January 1, 1833, having communicated in the hospital Zosimo-Savvatiev church, he addressed the brethren with the words: "Save yourself, watch and do not get discouraged, here crowns are being prepared for us."

He also warned that while he was alive, there would be no fire, but when his earthly life ended, there would be a fire. So it happened. In his cell, his things and books began to smolder, and the reverend miracle worker, kneeling before the image of God's mother, but already lifeless. His soul was taken by angels during prayer and flew up to Heaven to the Throne of the Almighty King.
