Sedum: landing and caring for the charming baby
Perhaps a small plant with an amusing name cleans and does not conquer its beauty from the first, but its modest charm will emphasize the refinement of the Alpine hill or refresh the strict elegance of the autumn flower garden. The second name is purification - sedum. Planting and caring for this unpretentious creature will not cause you any insuperable difficulties.
It is dense, fleshy leaves that are the hallmark of all sorts of purification. Coloring is varied. The most common is the traditional green sedum. Photographs of vineyards with a brown border conquer their bright decorative. Often, a light silvery coating is present on the surface of the plant. Touching is a cleansing, covered with small white, pink or yellow inflorescences.
There are no special claims to the soil, if it is fertile - great, well, if not, then the sedum will adapt to it. Planting and caring for rocky alpine hills is an additional proof of this. The plant is able to solidify in any cracks, where it will find some land for itself. However, do not regret it and add a little humus and compost to the soil before planting.
To get a chic carpet of beautiful creeping plants, you need to promote their reproduction. You can simply sow seeds, but it's much easier to cut through . Cuttings quickly take root in a box with moist sand and within a week or two are ready for planting in the soil.
Capricious nature of the purification never had. They are accustomed to grow on arid and stony ground, so they often do not require watering from gardeners. Do not overfeed sedum. Planting and nursing include fertilizing with manure or nitrogen, but do not apply extra fertilizers, otherwise the plant will not adequately winterize. For the winter, the stems are cleaned, which still continue to bloom, it is desirable to trim. A rosette of leaves is mulched with compost. And, of course, we watch that our little friend is not hampered by weeds.
