Covering with carbon or film

Almost all motorists had to hear about such a service as a carbide cover, but did many ask themselves what is it?

Carbon - a carbon fiber, consisting of carbon filaments, fastened with epoxy resins. From these threads weave a fabric with a different pattern of weaving. To harden the fabric, the layers are joined together using epoxy resins, while changing the direction of the pattern.

For the first time the carbon was used in the construction of spacecraft. Now it is widely used for tightening body parts and car interior.

The carving of the carbon has its positive sides. This material is particularly strong at low weight. It is 20% lighter than aluminum and half lighter than steel. The strength of carbon fiber is not inferior to fiberglass and many metals, this is what he so fond of the designers of racing cars. After all, the combination of durability and lightness of details is a very important factor of success in motorsports, so the carpet covering is relevant for race car cabs.

The main and, perhaps, the only disadvantage of CFRP is its high cost. To produce this material, expensive components and the use of complex technologies are required. For bonding layers, high-quality resins are used, and expensive equipment is required. Hence the high cost of the material.

Carbon is very afflicted by pinpoint strokes and from the sun's rays. After six months of driving because of the constant dropping of fine gravel, the carbon hood will turn into a sieve. And under the influence of the sun the material burns out, and after a while its color will be much duller than the original shade.

If the parts made of fiberglass or metal are to be repaired, then with carbon fiber this can not be done. Therefore, if the part is damaged, the carabiner is tightened again. The price of such procedures is very high, because of which the carbon is not available to all comers.

But there was a way out of this situation. Since our car enthusiasts liked the carbon more because of the presentable appearance, the relatively inexpensive service - the tightening of the film "under the carbon" - was widely spread. For this, PVC (polyvinylchloride) films with various patterns of carbon weaving are used. Such a film can glue all the body and interior elements of any car.

The use of the film replaces the full paint, while saving money. It will also serve as a good protection of paintwork from scratches, chips, damages during the operation of the car. And if suddenly the coloring bores the car owner, it will not be very difficult to make the car glossy, matte or put on it a unique pattern. The film is easily removed without harming the native coating.

If there is a choice: the covering by carbon or film, it is better to bend towards the second option. The coating of the film will give the car an individual stylish look and will not constrain its owner in the means.
