Secrets of the Barguzinsky Reserve

Barguzinsky Reserve is the oldest reserved place in Russia. The reserve was opened with a definite purpose - to support and significantly increase the number of sables, which at that time (1917) in Transbaikalia there were only about 30 individuals. Over the years, the staff of the reserve managed not only to save the sable genus, but also to increase the number of animals to one individual (and in some places to two) per 1 square meter.

Secrets of the Barguzinsky Reserve

The reserve is located in Buryatia, between Lake Baikal and the slopes of the Barguzinsky Range. It is not without reason that it bears the name of the Transbaikalian pearl: unique natural beauty and species-rich wildlife distinguish it from a number of other reserved places in Russia. After 69 years after the establishment, the reserve received the status of a biosphere reserve. On the territory of the protected area, scientific research is carried out aimed at preserving the genetic fund and ecological monitoring. It should be noted that in the world today there is a single biosphere network, which captures 300 reserves. In Russia, the status of the biosphere was assigned to 17 places. Own station of complex background monitoring, of which there are only six in the Russian Federation, is also available in the Barguzinsky Reserve.

A bit about the protected area

Its length is only 12 kilometers, but the estuary with sand dunes, larch and squat cedar, and a stepped channel that resembles one large horizontal waterfall, has helped to become famous for the river. In addition, Shumilikha has its own lakes. Only four picturesque lakes with crystal clear water, surrounded by moss covered with moss. Other reservoirs of the Barguzinsky Reserve are known: Karasyovoye and Losinoe. Inimitable beauty differ from each other in the bay, which in the territory there are 5 pieces.

The sights of the Barguzinsky Reserve are numerous. For example, Davshinskaya Bay passes along animal tracks, or rather along the way of following bears.

Walking along it, you can see the traces of these dangerous animals: clawed prints on trunks, earth, pieces of wool. The bay itself impresses with its picturesqueness: here two opposing worlds were united together. On one side is a dense, practically impenetrable forest, on the other - an endless water surface flooding in the sun's rays . Also in great demand among visitors is the thermal spring, which is located at the mouth of the river Dawsh. The water temperature reaches 43 degrees, and there are a lot of rumors about its medicinal properties. Even the trees growing near the sources reach a truly gigantic size. Barguzin capes

Separately it is necessary to tell about the capes, which also rich in Barguzinskaya land. One of the most famous is Cape Valukan, which, like an arrow, cuts into the waters of Lake Baikal. The whole of the cape is cut in small bays, each storing its secrets and charms. Only 6 capes are kept by the Barguzinsky Reserve. The description of each of them will be similar - steep, approaching the lake in the form of a ledge. But the name (name) each has its own: Valukan and Kabaniy, Pogoni and Urbikan, Nemnand and Black.

Especially beautiful they look, shrouded in fog, which constantly arises because of the low temperature of the lake waters. Fog clouds rise in summer after each rain, like a feather bed wrapping up the towering to the sky peaks of the Barguzinsky reserve. Hence the climate. The hottest month is August, the coldest month is February. Spring is much colder than autumn, and in June, from the northern side of Lake Baikal, you can see unmelted ice floes.
