Waterfall Peshchersky - the creation of human hands

What waterfalls do you know? Usually the mind immediately comes to Victoria Falls or Niagara Falls. But, perhaps, very few people (with the exception of local residents) will be able to name the Cave Waterfall. The Altai Territory, where it is located, can be proud of the fact that human activity is sometimes able not only to not damage the environment, but also to create new objects, from which nature only becomes more beautiful. But, as they say, about everything - in order.

The village of Peshcherka, in the Altai Territory, until recently attracted only a few researchers of the local nature who come here to look at a small cave located on the bank of the same name river, which, in fact, gave the name to this settlement. So it would continue until now, if His Majesty the Case had not intervened.

History of the Cave's Falls

Creation of human hands, the waterfall of Peshchersky, has a rather unusual history. Everything started with the construction in 1984 of the Meret-Sredne-Siberian railway line, which was supposed to be used for transportation of coal. Almost completely erected earthen linen, culverts were built, bridges were built, etc. Some trains have already been launched, but Perestroika has come, then the collapse of the Soviet Union, and as a result of the termination of funding in 1995, construction was suspended. Two years later, the Administration of the Altai Territory and the Kemerovo Region suggested using the facilities of an unfinished railway for the construction of a motorway. As is usually the case with us, the reconciliation process lasted for several years.

As a result, it was only in early 2000, by the order of the administration of the Kemerovo region, that the land and all objects of unfinished railway construction were transferred to the management of the road fund for the construction of the highway. To fill the roadway of the future highway it took a lot of gravel and crushed stone. For their extraction, it was necessary to perform blasting operations, as a result of which a new attraction appeared on the map - the Peshchersky waterfall.

Located in the valley of the Peshcherka River, this waterfall appeared at the site of the entrance to the surface of the Silurian limestone. The height of the waterfall formed in the riverbed is 10 meters in height. The width depends on the season, in winter - 5 meters, and in the summer - about 10 meters. This man-made object is extraordinarily natural in the environment and looks very picturesque.

Waterfall Peshchersky - a favorite place for fans of outdoor activities

In the place where the new waterfall appeared, a recreation area appeared, which gained a special popularity among lovers to spend their leisure time closer to nature. Almost the entire shore of the lake, from which the waterfall flows, is packed with cars and tents at weekends. By the way, entry to the territory is paid. On the territory of the recreation center there are houses that can be rented for a reasonable fee and a grocery store.

The water filling the pond in the summer warms up well, and therefore the waterfall Peshchersky attracts not only its beauty, but also the opportunity to take a real natural shower.

How to get there?

There is this remarkable place in the Zalesovsky district of the Altai Territory. To get here, it is necessary to turn off the M-52 highway past the district center Zalesovo before turning towards the village of Peshcherka. Then follow in the direction of the village Guniha to the module "Peshchersky waterfall".
