The first thing you need to determine exactly the dimensions. Everything should be thought through and calculated in advance. The main size will be the height. The Weapons Act accurately states that the thickness of the metal casing of the safe for storing firearms should not be less than 3 millimeters. Additional shelves and drawers inside the safe can be made of different materials, which will be high-strength and reliable. But this is an extra waste of time, effort and money. The easiest way is why the quality does not suffer in any way, it is safe to do it with your own hands from ordinary sheet steel. It does not require special skills, which makes it possible to produce it even for a person who has no experience.

The first step is to cut out the blanks that will be used for walls, bottoms, floors and doors. Cutting can be done in two ways: with the help of a grinder or a guillotine, which is designed for cutting metal. Use the option that you are more available or convenient. Assembly

It is carried out by means of electric welding. The main condition for successful welding and reliability of the structure is the installation of the minimum current before welding. The sheet of thin metal burns through very quickly, it is only necessary to increase the current or, conversely, to hold it in one place.

The welding current is determined by selecting the electrodes of the required thickness. To familiarize with the necessary sizes, and also with additional parameters it is possible on a pack with electrodes. There is always a matching table that will help you.

But you can use another method. Take the thinnest electrode you have available. Ideally, you need to use 2 millimeters. Then gradually add the current level until the arc stops fading and the electrode sticks to the walls of the surface. It is best to experiment in advance on unnecessary pieces of metal in order not to spoil the safe in the process.

The assembly should begin with the rear wall:

• Put it on a flat surface.
• We begin to slowly attach the bottom of the safe to it.
• Then the side wall.
• Then attach the top one.
• And attach the second side wall. It is very important that the welding places are inside the safe. In case you are just a novice welder and do not have much experience in smooth welding, the internal elements will help to hide all the shortcomings and uneven seams. Do not weld the walls of the safe with continuous welding seams. Quite often this leads to thermal deformation of a thin metal. A continuous seam should also not be used in this case, because the safe does not need to be densely clogged, such as a container with water. It is best to use this method for welding: in the process, make point potholds of metal at a distance of about 100 millimeters from each other.

Stiffening the structure

After welding the entire basic structure, you should strengthen it. To do this, we frame the front part of the safe, where the door will be in the future, with a metal corner. First, weld the metal corner to the side walls of the safe. All this should be done only inside the safe. There should be no welding elements outside. After this, you can proceed to the very manufacture of the door for the safe.

Making the front door of the safe

We take the door already cut out from the sheet of metal and make the reinforcement of the door design with the help of a metal corner. First of all the frame of the corner should be welded to the door itself. But in addition to the function of strengthening, the corner plays an important role in terms of security, namely: it blocks the door if the attackers want to take it off the canopies in the closed position. After installing the frame of the corner, we turn to the installation of locks. For this we make holes for two keyholes.

Now that the door is completely ready, you can proceed with its installation. Door awnings should be welded first to the corners on the door, and then to the wall of the safe itself. It is best to use the method of electric seams. The essence of it is as follows. Welding passes through the holes in the canopy for self-tapping, thus not creating unnecessary holes and unnecessary welds. After that, we weld the prepared door to the canopies.

Creation of a cartridge box

How to make a weapons safe, we figured out, now you need to make a box for storing ammunition, as required by law. For this, we just cook a small cartridge box that will be separate from the gun, and just weld it.
