Replacement of the bearing of a nave

The wheel hub bearing is a fairly reliable product. But over time, the driver notices the noise coming from the front or rear wheel. So, it's time to examine the condition of the part. Probably, it is necessary to replace the bearing of the hub.

The detail on which the wheel is put on is the hub. Inside, there is a pressed bearing. Its inner sleeve is put on the axis of the pivot. A brake disc is attached to the hub (this is the front wheel). If you raise the car and shake the wheel, a noticeable backlash will indicate on which wheel the bearing is worn.

If trouble happens in the city, a locksmith will help on SRT and some amount of money in the wallet. But if this happens on the road (and the owner has already warned the owner of the rumble in the wheel), you will need to buy a bearing in advance, some tools and a safe procedure. For a front-wheel drive vehicle, replacing the front hub bearing is not an easy task, but a self-fulfilling task.

For example, let it be VAZ-2112. The time will take about 2 hours. It will take an assistant to press the brake pedal, although instead of it you can apply a stick installed between the driver's seat and the brake pedal. A little poddokratim front of the machine, turn on the parking brake and loosen the wheel nuts and the central nut. This nut is difficult to unscrew, but there is liquid VD40 and it will help. Another wooden wheel should be put under the wheel. Raise the machine on the jack and put a chump under it. And suddenly he will go!

To raise it should be left and right. If you pick up only one edge, the reactive rod from the unregistered wheel will lift the suspension parts up and severely interfere with the work.

Remove all nuts and remove the wheel. Remove the machine from the parking brake. Remove the brake caliper long bolts and remove the brake pads, caliper and brake disc. In order not to damage the hose, carefully suspend the brake caliper on the wire to the suspension parts. Remove the washer that supports the bearing.

And then actually begins the replacement of the bearing of the hub. Prepare the percussion device. Through two opposite holes in the brake disc, skip two identical long threaded bolts as in the hub - M12x1.5. Screw these bolts into the corresponding holes in the hub. It turns out a heavy detail, walking on long bolts. Sharply pull the disc toward you before striking the bolt heads. A few strokes - and the hub is removed from the splines of the CV joint. Unscrew the ball bearings from the swivel fist. Remove the SHRUS shank from the bearing bore.

Remove the expansion washer, tightening the bearing in the swivel fist, using a narrow nose pliers. At the rear of the bearing, put the washer, and in front - a remover in the form of a glass with a hole in the center. Through the hole in the stripper and the washer, push the bolt and screw on the nut. Then tighten the nut with the spanners and this squeezes the bearing outward from the pivot.

This replacing the bearing of the hub is not yet complete, since the inner ring of the bearing remains on the hub. If there is no suitable puller, use a screwdriver to remove the dirt ring and knock out the inner ring of the bearing with a chisel. Formed scratches carefully cleaned with a small file and sandpaper. Then the dirt ring should be put back in place.

The inner surface of the rotary knuckle must be cleaned of dirt and, by changing the washer and stripper, press the new bearing into a fist. Install the expansion washer and, in the reverse order, assemble the hub and wheel.

When swinging the rear wheel, the hub bearing must also be replaced. For a front-wheel drive car, this is somewhat easier, since there is no swivel fist and steering traction.

This operation, such as replacing the rear hub bearing,   Also available to the driver. But first, re-tightening the wheel bearing nut can help. After hanging the rear of the machine on both sides and removing the wheels, remove the brake drum and brake pads. Then remove the hub nut and lock washer. Remove the hub from the axle with a puller. Remove the lock ring with a narrow nose pliers. Removing the washer (glass washer) from the hub. Squeeze out the bearing. The inner cavity of the hub must be cleaned of dirt and scratches. Having rearranged a glass and a washer of the stripper, press the bearing into the hub pressing on the inner ring. Install the retaining ring and assemble the wheel. Fix the bearing nut to the core.
