Replacement of driver's license

Everyone knows that the validity of any Russian driver's license is 10 years. After this period of time, it must be replaced by contacting the appropriate authorities. What documents will you need, do you need to take exams and in what other cases you may need to replace your driver's license?

You can replace the driver's license in any registration and examination department of the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate located in your city. To be more precise, you should change the identity card in the subject of the Russian Federation in which you are registered. If your permanent or temporary registration is in the Moscow region, you must apply to the appropriate body of the Moscow region, and not the city of Moscow. And vice versa.

Replacement of the driver's license is required only after the end of their expiration date. Or if you have done something to them that has made them unfit for use: washed, ripped, doused with ink and so on. You can change your driving license after changing your surname, but this is not necessary. You have the right to drive a vehicle with old rights, if you carry a certificate of change of name.

What documents will you need to replace the rights?

If you want to change or restore lost driver's license, please provide to the traffic police:

- passport;

- Temporary registration, if you are not registered in this subject of the Russian Federation;

- medical certificate form No.083 / U89;

- Examination card of the driver (for subjects, where it is permitted to take examinations externally - it is not necessary);

- An old driving license;

- a photograph with a size of 3x4 with a white left corner (in the traffic police, where automated production of certificates is practiced - it is not necessary, they will photograph themselves);

- The paid receipt (usually the state duty can be paid directly in the traffic police department);

- an application that is filled in the office itself.

In short, in large cities of Russia you only need to bring with you the following documents to replace your driver's license: a passport, an examination card, a medical certificate and an old certificate. If you have not lost the examination card, you will not have to take exams. If lost - ask for advice to the traffic police of your city. Perhaps you still need to retake theory and practice.

What if the driver's license replacement was delayed for a long time?

If you come to the traffic police department with all the necessary documents - get a new driver's license in a few hours. However, many people delay this procedure without finding time to visit this important body. If you do not drive a car with expired rights - no penalties are imposed on you. You can come to the traffic police with an old driver's license, the expiration date of which expired a few years ago, no penalties for late replacement are not required. However, if you are stopped on the road and find that your rights are no longer valid - wait for a good fine. The penalty for driving a vehicle with invalid rights is exactly the same as a fine for management without any rights. The amount of fines is constantly changing, so specify this amount in the latest edition of the SDA.

Replacement of the driver's license of the international model is necessary every three years, if you regularly go on your car abroad. To obtain a new international certificate, you must do the same as to replace Russian rights with expired validity. The only serious difference is that you must take with you to the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate a valid passport. Do not forget that you need to change these rights much more often than an ordinary Russian driver's license.
