A recruiter is an intermediary between the employer and the candidate for the position

A freelance recruiter is a person who helps an employer to hire exactly the specialist that he needs, while not belonging to the staff of any agency or firm.

Freelance is a modern trend

More recently, the word "freelance" was applicable only to several areas: journalism or work on the Internet. However, to date, this concept refers to many professions.

Defining the freelancer, we can say that this person is not characterized by permanent labor relations (which are regulated by the TC) with companies or enterprises, as he performs a certain amount of work or a specific task paid for in fact. Literally a few years ago, this possibility was possessed by a limited number of people entering into narrow professional niches, and the structure of the market as such did not exist at all. In addition, associations with freelancers were extremely negative: they were perceived as lazy people who did not want to go somewhere to work.

Public opinion radically changed when, along with the development of technology and the emergence of high-quality, affordable equipment, a large number of people were able to realize their professional skills. Thanks to numerous advantages, even large companies prefer to contact freelancers, outsourcing various projects: from writing advertising texts to developing complex computer programs. Such specialty as recruiting was not an exception.

Recruiter-freelancer: who it is, what it does and for what it receives a salary

A recruiter is an employee who is looking for personnel for an enterprise or finds a vacancy for a specialist. He must have certain skills and experience, otherwise the quality of his services will be inadequate. Payment for such freelancers is accrued after the closing of the vacancy.

In fact, the recruiter is the one who performs the following duties:

  • Places information about vacancies that have opened in different companies. For this, he uses bulletin boards, special websites and newspapers.
  • Finds and looks up resumes of job seekers who could take vacancies.
  • Sends requests, calls up and invites people to an interview.
  • Conducts meetings and interviews in order to determine how suitable a person is to fill a position.
  • Tells candidates who are suitable for the company, about working conditions, standards and provides necessary information about future work.
  • Sends information about the candidate to the employer and learns his opinion.
  • Communicates with the employee and sends him the employer's answer: whether he is employed or not.

With the mutual consent of the employee and employer, the transaction is considered successful, the vacancy is closed, and the freelancer receives payment. In fact, the recruiter is an intermediary.

The advantages that work has

There are several significant advantages, thanks to which many people choose for themselves such a niche as recruiting on terms of freelancing:

  • Receiving a full fee. When you work as a recruiter in an agency, each employee receives no more than a third of the amount of compensation. At the same time, the fee of a private freelancer is several times less than that paid to specialized companies.
  • Flexibility of the work schedule. The time that he can allocate for occupation by professional activity is determined by the recruiter himself. Who is it, not a freelancer in the traditional sense? The recruiter can work day and night, as well as on holidays or weekends, freeing himself for those periods that he needs. This is especially true for people who combine the duties of a freelancer with other work, caring for children or elderly relatives.
  • There is no need to rent an office.
  • Independent choice of partners for professional activities.

Disadvantages of recruiting

As you know, there is no ideal work. To get a full idea of what a freelancer recruiter does, who it is and how it breathes, you need to take into account the minuses of the profession:

  • Lack of stability. To receive income from its activities, you need to constantly find customers and meet their needs.
  • Not normality. With this kind of work, you do not have to talk about constant and regular workload, since there can be ten orders in one month, and in the other - none at all.
  • The need to spend a lot of time looking for both employers and employees.
  • Obligatory possession of tactfulness, literate speech, skills of psychological analysis, knowledge of the labor market.

Individual aspects of activity

At first glance, it may seem that such a profession is quite simple and in the conditions of the economic crisis and unemployment any opportunity to earn should be taken with a bang. However, like any other specialist, a recruiter is still a hired worker. He, just like the rest of the labor market participants, lies in wait for their pitfalls.

For example, the search for a suitable person is not so simple, it is required to find an employee with a set of specific professional characteristics, education and experience. In addition, the recruiter is the one on whose shoulders lies the testing of the competency and adequacy of the candidate. It is not uncommon for employees to change their decisions, find work in parallel with the recruiter or simply refuse their services before the result is obtained.

Communication with the employer also has its own peculiarities: tact, understanding of the tasks and requirements are important here.

How to start the work of recruiters

To work in this field without special education (personnel management) is very difficult, in the extreme case it can be replaced by the experience of an assistant recruiter in the company.

Setting priorities and determining the direction of work is what the recruiter does first. What does it mean? Starting to work independently , the freelancer chooses, with what professions he will deal: managers, workers, managers, sales specialists.

Further the recruiter appoints the fee for its services and monitors the exchanges and sites in search of the first orders.

Successful and productive activity of such workers depends largely on their reputation, business ties, activity and ingenuity. Therefore, one can speak about efficiency only after a certain period (several months, or even years).
