Renault Fluence: test drive and car review

"Renault Fluence" is a compact C-class car produced serially from 2009. The car came to replace the already outdated "Meganu". "Renault Fluence" is built on a common platform "Renault-Nissan C" and has similar characteristics to "Megan". But how much has the successor changed? Test drive of the new "Renault Fluence" and a review of the car are presented in our article.

Design

Like Megan, the novelty received a calm and peaceful appearance. There are no dynamic and aggressive forms, bright lines and special color. This is a simple city car with an unobtrusive look. In 2015, the model underwent restyling. But there were no special changes. The front of the car has a crystal lensed optics, a wide grille with a proprietary logo and shiny inserts of fog lamps with running lights. By the way, this tendency (chrome in fogs) was adopted by Koreans in their new Solaris. The side mirrors are painted in body color and have diode repeaters of turns. At the bottom of the doors there are bright ledges - such an alternative to the aerodynamic threshold. As the test drive showed, Renault Fluency 1.6 does not stand out from the flow. This is not a machine that should attract attention. Plus this or a minus is a purely individual matter.

Salon

Unlike other "Frenchmen" ("Peugeot" and "Citroen"), "Renault" does not have any chips or twists. Here is the most ordinary salon, sometimes even boring. The seats have a wide range of settings. An armrest is also provided for the convenience of the driver and front passenger. It reclines 90 degrees and can accommodate many small things. The instrument panel has raised rims and digital scales. Also in the cabin you can find cupholders. They are conveniently located near the armrest.

As the test drive showed, Renault Fluence is not only a convenient, but practical car. So, the volume of the trunk of the sedan is 530 liters. In addition, you can throw back the sofa and carry long loads. In the niche under the floor there is a factory tool kit and a full-size spare wheel.

Specifications

This machine is officially supplied to our market. The manufacturer has provided for Russia three petrol power units. All of them have 4 cylinders and are located transversely relative to the body. Let's consider each power unit in order.

So, in the basic version there is a 1.6-liter atmospheric unit with distributed fuel injection. The maximum power of this engine is 106 horsepower. The twisting moment - 145 Nanometers at four thousand turns. This unit works in tandem with a five-speed manual gearbox. As the test drive showed, "Renault Floens" 1.6 with mechanics accelerates to hundreds in 11.7 seconds. And the maximum speed is 183 km / h. At the same time the motor is very economical. Test drive Renault Fluence showed that the car consumes up to 6.7 liters in a mixed mode. Also in the lineup there is an engine from Nissan. With the same volume of 1.6 liters, it develops 114 horsepower. The torque of this unit is 155 Nm. This engine is equipped with a variable transmission. Test drive "Renault Flouens" showed that with this engine the sedan does not feel any better. Still, the variator hides some of the power: acceleration to a hundred takes 11.9 seconds. The maximum speed of the sedan is limited to 175 km / h. But the expenditure on passport data is 100 grams less than in the previous version.

Luxurious "Fluence"

What engine will the "Renault Fluence" be equipped with in luxury trim levels? The top in the line is a two-liter petrol engine with multi-point injection. The torque of this unit is 190 Nm, and the power - 138 horsepower. With this motor, the machine has a good dynamics of overclocking. Up to a hundred, it accelerates in 10.1 seconds. And this despite the fact that the gearbox is provided with the same variator. As for the "maximum", the speedometer needle stops at 195 km / h.

Test drive Renault Fluence in 2016 showed that the two-liter engine is not much different from the rest in terms of "appetite". So, for a hundred in a mixed cycle, it consumes 7.8 liters. Excess 1100 grams of gasoline is forgivable, given the dynamics of acceleration this motor gives.

Chassis

The manufacturer does not hide that most of the details were borrowed from the "Megan" 3rd generation. The machine received the same independent suspension on the MacPherson struts in the front and a semi-independent beam from the rear. The steering is a rake, with an electric booster. Brakes - disc, on both axes. In addition, the car is equipped with ABS and course stabilization. As the test drive showed, Renault Fluence has a very energy-intensive suspension. On the pits, it behaves perfectly, and at a speed the machine does not "scour" along the track.
