Red wine: the name on the label and the contents of the bottle

A good wine today is not easy to buy. A wide range, represented on the shelves of hypermarkets, does not guarantee the possibility of purchasing a quality drink. Too often in a beautiful bottle is a flavored and tinted alcohol-containing solution, only remotely resembling red wine. The name can be the most sonorous, it only defines the type of "bouquet identical to natural", denoted by a three-digit code with the letter "E". What to do, progressive European technologies, lower costs and other fruits of the free market ...

Buy wine is best in specialized stores. With all the advantages of drinks made from white grapes, the most beneficial for health is red dry wine. The names, as a rule, indicate either the region of the growth of raw materials, or its grade.

The most affordable prices are traditionally considered ordinary varieties. Ideally, they should be produced using the same technology as vintage wines, and differ from them only in aging in oak barrels. This ripening enriches the bouquet of the drink with special shades and softens the taste. The tasters operate with the terms "velvety", "roundness", "saturation" and other concepts that are inaccessible to the average consumer, but anyone who has tried a good red wine can distinguish a good product from a cheap counterfeit. The name "Cabernet" or "Negru de Purcari" speaks volumes to those who grew up and grew up in the Soviet Union, in which, of course, many things were done wrong, but the GOSTs were strict and largely observed. And today natural ordinary wine is preferable for its taste qualities, expensive, most often imported liquid, issued for prestigious varieties. At best, for a solid amount you can buy a very ordinary product of French, Italian, Greek or Chilean winemakers, albeit natural, but not in any way superior to domestic ones.

Table wines differ from fortified with alcohol and sugar. Our, domestic consumer prefers semi-sweet varieties, and those who wandered, which is called "dry", that is, without the addition of sugar, often rejects, they seem too sour. This opinion is erroneous, and testifies to such a deplorable fact as the low culture of consumption of drinks.

However, his well-deserved fans also have fortified red wine. The name "port wine" was profaned in the aforementioned decades, when it symbolized inexpensive swill, "inked" for drinkers. But in vain. This port has nothing to do with the notorious "buckwheat", it is a noble drink with a rich bouquet and, incidentally, not cheap. The alcohol content in it is really considerable (up to 20%), but it is not drunk with glasses. "Aigeshat" or "Surozh" should be savored, sipping with small sips so that it moistens the entire oral cavity and tongue.

It is also important to correctly choose the grade of red wine. The name containing the word "dessert" means less alcohol and a sweeter taste. It is served with cakes or cake. For example, Cahors, traditionally used for church communion, are tart and fragrant, and its best grades are "South Coast", "Chumai" and "Getashen".

And, finally, champagne. Usually it is made from white grapes, but there is also a sparkling red wine. The name "Artyomovskoye" attests to the high quality of the product produced by classical technology, including remuing and disgorging, that is, changing the plug to remove the sediment formed during the fermentation.

Finally tips for those who do not understand wines, but want to buy a good drink. First, the cork should be cortical, not polyethylene. Secondly, the year of harvest and the producer must be indicated on the label. And third, the price. Good is always expensive.
