Questionnaire of major depression and other ways of its diagnosis

In the modern world, the problem of depression is becoming more urgent. Constant stress, an unregulated load, fatigue - all this gradually leads to the fact that the surrounding world no longer rejoices. At some stage it becomes clear that such a state is not just banal depression, but something more serious. It is for diagnosing a person's psychological state that a questionnaire of major depression is used.

What is this questionnaire?

Of course, there are many ways to determine if a person is depressed. By the way, it should be noted that under this term, specialists understand the reduction of both mental and motor activity, to which a general depressed state is added. That is, to say that a person is in a state of depression only because he has not been as cheerful as usual in recent times, at least incorrectly from a medical point of view: a number of factors must be observed here.

The Big Depression questionnaire is a self-assessment test, proposed by the World Health Organization and determining the depressive state of the tested person. Usually the Likert scale is used - the frequency of occurrence of the patient's proposed symptoms is estimated. This type of diagnosis is one of the most accurate, despite the fact that the test contains only twenty questions.

Bek scale

Some experts do not often apply a questionnaire of major depression. That this is not the only way to diagnose is known for a long time. That is why many psychiatrists use an alternative method - the Beck scale - a series of statements that are offered multiple answers. Based on what options the test person chooses, and assesses his psychological state. A relatively short period of time is analyzed - one or two weeks. The approval questions relate to the patient's condition, for example, whether the level of his activity or appetite has changed, whether interest in previously loved subjects has been preserved, and so on.

A large depression questionnaire is a test performed within twenty minutes, a maximum of an hour. If the test person can not cope with it, then it signals a severe depression.

Self-evaluation scale of depression

So, as already said, one of the most effective methods of diagnosing the disorder is a questionnaire of major depression. To pass this test it is possible both on the Internet, and at the qualified expert who can immediately appoint the treatment according to the results. Depression - not the state that goes by itself - needs professional help and a long time to completely overcome it.

But it's worth noting that Beck's scale is not the only way to determine if a person has problems. There is such a testing option as a self-evaluation depression scale, designed for more accurate diagnosis of depression and subdepression (its easier form). This questionnaire also focuses on the physical well-being of the test subject and also assesses the severity of the depression, if any.

The Bekhterev questionnaire

A more complex questionnaire of major depression, more precisely, one of its many forms is a questionnaire by Bekhterev. It is much deeper than the two previous methods, but is used more often to observe patients already diagnosed with a mental disorder. It is also noteworthy that Bekhterev aimed at revealing hidden depressions and neuroses, which significantly widened the scope of his questionnaire. If the test subject has a certain disorder, then the questionnaire reveals its origin, which greatly facilitates the treatment. In the test, which is unusual, more than six dozen questions, to which the testee answers "yes" or "no", and this greatly increases the accuracy of the study.

Edinburgh questionnaire

The standard questionnaire of Beck's major depression combined with a self-evaluation scale allowed the creation of an Edinburgh questionnaire. It is aimed at detecting postpartum depression in women, as well as diagnosing psychological problems in the child's father. The disadvantage of this test is that it can not always distinguish between depression and banal anxiety, which, of course, reduces its accuracy. However, against the background of other questionnaires for the diagnosis of depression, this is quite specific in its purpose, which clearly gives him some advantages.

And how to deal with depression?

After the questionnaire of the great depression revealed the existence of a problem, it is worth considering how to deal with it. In the early stages of depression, with its mild degree, experts recommend nonmedical methods of treatment: outdoor walks, motor activity, control of diet and, of course, work with a psychotherapist. In more neglected cases you will have to resort to the use of drugs that stimulate the production of serotonin, a hormone of happiness, however, over time the body can get used to stimulating this process and stop doing it without drug reinforcement.

Conclusion

The main thing in depression is to diagnose it in time and start treatment. All problems can be overcome, sometimes it is enough only to show that it is impossible to cope with them. Life is beautiful, and it must be remembered always and under all circumstances. And depression in it is not the place.
