The change in the state of the body tissues as a result of exposure to high temperature is called a burn.

First aid for the injured

- If the victim's clothing is in flames, cover it with a dense cloth. Restricting air access will quickly extinguish the fire. Then you need to remove your clothes. Moreover, the remains of the material adhering to the skin can not be removed strictly (the same applies to cases of thermal burns with boiling water).

- The affected surface of the body must be immersed in cold water or kept under a stream of running water. So the further heating of the affected area and the deepening of the resulting tissue injury cease. This is the first aid for burns caused by direct contact with hot water or flames. In case of sunburn, the victim must be transferred to the shade.

- Apply a special agent to the burned area. Attention! If it is not at hand, do not listen to the advice of those present, suggesting to apply kefir, toothpaste, aloe juice, alcohol solution and other dubious "elixirs" to injuries. In this case, it is better to confine yourself to a dry clean dressing and wait for the doctors to arrive.

- Sometimes first aid for burns can include artificial respiration and indirect heart massage.

- To remove painful sensations it is possible by means of corresponding tablets (analgetics).

- To wait for an ambulance, the doctors of which will take the patient to a specialized department of the hospital, where he will be provided with the necessary medical care for burns.

Treatment of post-burn injuries
