The program for testing the temperature of the processor may be required if the computer starts to malfunction, and errors, departures and "lags" - most likely - are caused by overheating. Also, the use of such utilities can be caused by checking the effectiveness of the cooling system or the banal interest. Several monitoring tools will be considered in the article below.

AIDA64

Perhaps, the most popular program for checking the temperature of the processor and video card. And not only they are available, the information can be read from any sensor that is inside the system unit or laptop. In general, the utility has many additional functions, but for now, focus only on this one. You can obtain temperature measurement data in two ways.

The first way

To view the temperature values of all system components, start the application. The tree menu will be located in the left part of the window that opens. Click on the "+" sign next to the "Computer" submenu. Select the "Sensor" item in the drop-down list. Now look at the right side of the dividing line. Here you can see two fields. The name of the first one is "Field". Under this label are listed all the devices of the computer. The second is "Meaning". Can indicate temperature, voltage applied to a particular component or the speed of rotation of the cooler.

The first method is not always suitable, because the program for checking the temperature of the processor and video card will show the user the values received from the sensors at a given time. The construction of graphs in this mode is not available. Also for monitoring it is necessary to switch from other applications to AIDA64, which undoubtedly will relieve most of the hardware, which in turn will reduce power consumption, and as a result - heat emission.

Stress test

In the event that during simple tasks the PC is working normally, and when the start of powerful applications start failures, it is possible to check the components for overheating under heavy load. You can do this in AIDA64 by clicking on the icon that looks like a graph.

After clicking on the screen, a window with diagrams appears. The program for testing the temperature of the processor makes it possible to configure them. Click the "Preferences" button (or "Settings"). They realized the ability to choose the time of updating the graphs, limiting the minimum and maximum values that will be recorded, specify from which sensors to collect data and specify colors.

After completing the configuration, pay attention to the upper left corner of the window. It contains the names of the components that will be tested. Near each inscription there is a check mark, allowing to disable this or that check. It is advisable to uncheck the box next to "Stress Local Disks", because it is likely that even the smallest malfunction will result in the failure of the hard drive if you perform its endurance test.

It remains to press the "Start" button. Be careful. Do not move away from the computer for a long time during the tests. During the stress test, the program to check the CPU temperature will load it as much as possible. Complete the procedure if it becomes clear that one or more components have become too hot. High temperatures are already a fact of existence of problems with cooling.

HWMonitor

HWMonitor is much simpler than AIDA64. There is nothing superfluous in it. Its main difference is not only in this, but also in the fact that this tool is absolutely free, although it is less functional.

Installing the utility takes less than a minute. After starting the program for checking the temperature of the processor immediately opens its main and single window, in which there are no additional tabs. All content is divided into four columns:

• Sensor - indication of the sensor from which the readings are taken.
• Value - the value at the time. Depending on the sensor, the temperature, frequency, voltage and RPM can be specified (for fans with a built-in tachometer).
• Min is the minimum value seen.
• Max - the maximum figures of the indicators.

What should be the temperature values?

The computer today is a very powerful tool for the logical and mathematical processing of information. Exceeding a certain threshold can lead to a decrease in the overall performance of the PC, and may completely disable the device. When a program for checking the CPU temperature is selected and open, Windows 7 seconds after the second sends the user new data, but what exactly should the system devices have to keep them functioning at maximum of their capabilities without fail?

I must say that here users are divided into two camps - some prefer to focus on general recommendations, the second - to the critical values that the manufacturer has established.

For the CPU, the recommended temperature is 45-50 degrees in idle and up to 65 at the load. For a video card - up to 55 and up to 80 respectively.

The manufacturer, however, can set a critical temperature for these individual models above these recommendations. For example, some models of AMD video cards can work stably and at 90 degrees.

It is better to focus on something secondary. If the program to check the temperature of the notebook processor shows values that are higher than recommended, it is not necessary to change the thermal paste or cooling system urgently, it is quite possible that this behavior is normal for your device. Just do not be lazy to look at the manufacturer's website.
