Powdery mildew on a rose hinders plant growth. It can occur because of a lack of calcium in the soil or because of the large amount of nitrogen. In greenhouses roses are affected by this disease due to poor airing and lack of light.

This disease poses a danger to flowers that are in enclosed spaces, in the open ground roses tolerate the disease more easily. This disease occurs due to high humidity, significant temperature changes during the day and night.

The remedy for powdery mildew is, above all, prevention. Fallen leaves and affected shoots must be collected and burned, the soil should be treated with special preparations. When the first signs of disease occur, plants are sprayed using such drugs as Bordeaux liquid, kuprozan, and ditane.
