Lack of calcium: causes, symptoms and methods of prevention

Unfortunately, the lack of calcium in the human body over the past few years has become quite a common problem. This is a very dangerous condition, which leads to the development of rickets in childhood and osteoporosis in adults.

Lack of calcium: causes

In fact, there are many very diverse factors that lead to a deficiency of this element in the human body. Here are just the most common of them:

  • Incorrect and unbalanced nutrition. The human diet does not contain a sufficient amount of calcium (no dairy products, cheeses, fish, etc.), as well as vitamin D and other elements that contribute to the assimilation of the mineral in the body.
  • Excessive consumption of coffee, which gives a charge of vivacity, but at the same time intensively removes calcium from the body.
  • Frequent use of alcoholic beverages, smoking, taking drugs.
  • Food poor quality products that contain pesticides.
  • Living or working in a polluted environment.
  • Impact of radiation.
  • Strict diets, during which a person refuses from most foods containing vitamins, minerals and calcium.
  • Constant overheating of the body.
  • Heavy physical activity along with inadequate and limited nutrition.

Lack of calcium: symptoms and possible complications

Symptoms of calcium deficiency are quite noticeable. As a rule, these people begin to split their nails, hair grows dull . On the enamel appear cracks. With a more progressive defect, fillings begin to fly out. Over time, the density of bones begins to decrease - they become weak, so people with this diagnosis often turn to a traumatologist with cracks or fractures of bones. Then begins osteoporosis.

A separate mention is deserved and a lack of calcium in children, which causes bending of the bones and spine, as well as abnormal growth and permanent dental diseases. A child who is exposed to deficiency of an element from early childhood, as a rule, has weak immunity and is more prone to the development of colds. Very often, anemia is diagnosed.

Lack of calcium: treatment and prevention

It is rather difficult to restore the normal amount of an element in the body, especially in the late stages of a deficit. To do this, use special products containing large amounts of calcium, as well as vitamin D, boron and other elements.

But it is best to prevent the disease. For example, periodically take vitamin complexes. This is especially important in the winter season. Watch for the amount of dairy products in the diet: calcium is found in cheeses and milk. Remember that for normal digestion of the mineral in the blood, vitamin D is needed - it is sold in pharmacies. Try to limit the amount of coffee you drink.

If we are talking about folk methods of treatment, then a very effective medicine is the egg shell, which contains a huge amount of calcium, which is suitable for the human body. The shell must first be well dried, and then cleaned of the film on the inside. Then crush the eggshell pieces in a coffee grinder. Use 1 - 2 grams of powder per day.

But do not be too zealous, as it is possible and hypercalcemia - an excess of calcium in the body. In fact, such a violation is rare, but still it is possible. In this condition, the mineral is deposited in the joints, muscles, blood vessels. Patients with this diagnosis complain of headaches, fatigue, constant nausea, intense thirst. Even convulsions are possible, especially at night. Therefore, before embarking on an intensive replenishment of calcium stores, consult a specialist and take all necessary tests.
