POS terminals - one more step towards non-cash future

Residents of Western countries, such a "curiosity", as POS-terminals, have long been not surprising. However, they are not so widespread yet. That's why it is necessary to tell more about what it is and how it works.

So, in fact, it is a hardware-software terminal, which is necessary for carrying out non-cash payments by plastic cards. POS-terminals make it possible to automate the work of cashiers, waiters, barmen, etc. The above device allows you to carry out trading operations in the same way as an ordinary cash register. But at the same time the POS-terminal has several original "chips".

For example, a device can accumulate data in order to subsequently analyze it and provide the analysis results to the seller or the owner of the enterprise. Users can quickly find a new product in the catalog and learn all the necessary information about it using an attractive and user-friendly interface. There are also multifunction terminals of this type. Their feature is, first of all, the ability to connect various additional devices to them.

The standard configuration of POS-terminals includes a PC system unit, a programmable keyboard, a POS cash monitor, a fiscal recorder, card readers and barcodes, and a customer display.

How it works? The essence is simple: the cashier puts or draws a card through the reader, then the client enters a personal PIN-code to confirm the authorization. The machine automatically generates and prints a receipt. At the same time, data about the transaction are sent to the processing center.

The advantages that POS-terminals have are obvious. First, the payment process is automated and becomes much faster. In addition, there is a continuous record. Due to the fact that no cash is used for payment, there is no expenditure of time for collection. Also POS-terminals exclude the possibility of the cashier making counterfeit money. Under certain conditions, the installation of terminals of this type allows you to increase sales volumes - customers are much easier to perceive unplanned purchases. And, finally, the client can be 100% sure that when calculating with the cashier there will be no errors.

POS-terminals can be both stationary and mobile. Manufacturers of these systems offer a wide range of options for solving a variety of tasks. Stationary terminals are most often found in shops and supermarkets. If we are talking about cashiers in retail chains, then it is more expedient to install mobile terminals (they are also called PIN pads).

Qualitative apparatus can equally well be used even in those rooms where there is high humidity, characterized by constant temperature fluctuations and a large amount of dust - the creators of terminals provide their products with reliable protection against these and many other factors.

Planned maintenance of POS-terminals is necessary in order to maintain the correct operation of the systems and to extend the period of their operation.

The cost of the POS-terminal may be different and depends on the complexity of the system. The simplest models cost about $ 100.
