Popular varieties of white cabbage

White cabbage can be considered almost the most popular culture in our kitchen gardens. This useful and tasty plant is grown by almost every summer resident. Grades of white cabbage are classified into early ripening, mid-ripening and late. In the central part of Russia , the first and second crops are grown. Late peasants are more common in the southern regions. Most of them have excellent taste, an abundance of vitamins and unpretentious care.

Many summer residents grow on their sites at the same time and early-ripening varieties of white cabbage, and medium-term maturation. The fact that the heads of the first differ with a delicate taste and are suitable for salads, they can not be sour. Medium-ripening varieties are excellent for canning. They have a tight head and are often slightly flattened. They are also distinguished by an increased degree of shelf life. Such cabbage can be kept in a cool place throughout the winter until the next harvest.

The late varieties of white cabbage are mostly bred especially for the southern regions. Their distinctive feature is heat resistance. In ordinary varieties of cabbage, when the soil is overheated, the roots are damaged. Heat resistant this lack are deprived. Their heads are distinguished by their density, and they, like the medium-ripened ones, are suitable for storage and souring.

This variety can be called ultra-early maturing. The first heads can be obtained in three months after the introduction of seeds into the ground. If they are planted on seedlings in March, and then moved to a greenhouse, the result will be in June.
