Plymouth Hemi Cuda - the legendary American

Few machines can shake the air with the roar of their engines and the succulent sounds of exhaust. There are few such cars, but they are. And in this article, we'll tell you about the legendary muscle car of the American automaker, whose car almost flew in the vast North American continent. It's about Plymouth Hemi Cuda. What immediately worth mentioning is the history of this car, which, by the way, is very full. Let's start.

In 1964, just two weeks before the release of all well-known and in current circles of motorists Ford Mustang, the company Plymouth released its new offspring - the model Plymouth Barracuda. It was equipped with a six- or eight-cylinder engine with an output power of 145 to 235 horsepower. Next, the model was updated several times, new types of bodies and motors were added. And, finally, in 1968 the company managed to create the very ideal, which they tried to implement even in the first released car. The car received sporting contours and the most powerful engine in the history of "pony cars" - the 8-cylinder engine, the volume of 7.2 liters. However, due to the rather limited circulation, he never reached fame. To rectify this situation, there was a new muscle car, released in 1970 and named Plymouth Hemi Cuda. This model acquired a considerable number of engines, among which was that unrivaled 426th HEMI.

In the 70th year, the HEMI engine was installed in only 14 cabriolets, the current price of which is simply amazing, but we will talk about this later. So, these "animals" were equipped with a 6.9-liter motor, the power of which reached up to 500 horsepower (for comparison, you can bring a modern sports car Audi R8, capable of developing a "total" capacity of 420 horses). The car itself was equipped with automatic transmission Torqueflite, massive wheel disks and many others. The interior of the car did not stand out particularly among the muscle-cars of that time: leather everywhere, a huge steering wheel, sports seats, a large instrument panel.

Plymouth Cuda is very fond of street racing and professional riders because of the possibility of boosting the engine in "garage" conditions, and also thanks to the tuning of this handsome man. An interesting fact: up to a hundred the car accelerated in 3.4 seconds, and a half kilometer overcame a little more than 10 seconds. For this reason, he immediately chose draggers. That's it, Plymouth Hemi Cuda! For its manufacturer, by the way, the car became a real salvation, because because of good sales, it eased the crisis of the company, which hit Plymouth in the 1970s.

Now we should say about the cost of the car. In the popular online auction of eBay model Plymouth Hemi Cuda in 1970, a fantastic price of $ 2 million was set. But at the same time there were plenty of buyers for it. Of course, the fact that the car belonged to the actor John Schneider, known for the film "Dukes Go To Hollywood", played his part. In honor of this machine even got autographs from the actors and the crew. However, this is not an isolated case. The same car a couple of years ago was sold at the auction Barrett-Jackson for 2 160 000 green. As you can see, Plymouth Cuda is not so easy to buy, because this car is only for true fans of muscle-cars. Complicates the purchase and limited circulation of cars, but all at the same auctions still have the opportunity to purchase this American dream.
