Plateau Bermamyt: how to get by car?

The best place to view the majestic snow-capped and amazingly beautiful Elbrus peaks is the territory called Bermamyt. Here it will be told about this, created by nature itself - about the Bermamyt plateau: how to get there, about its surroundings, location.

Large and Small Bermamyt: height

These two huge boulders (massifs) - Big Bermamyt and Maly - seem to lie at the very foot of the giant Elbrus, although in reality the distance from them to the peaks is almost 30 kilometers. This is due to the fact that the very transparent air of the mountains slightly obscures (visually) the distance.

Big Bermamyt is actually considered the main peak of the plateau. But this is also a visual deception. The highest point of Bermamyt is 2592 meters, which is actually 50 meters below the Small (2643 meters above sea level). It turns out that in fact Small Bermamyt is the highest point of the ridge. Its name was given to Maly due to the smaller area occupied by the territory. It is also the southern boundary of the Caucasian Mineral Waters region.

Bermamyt Plateau: photo, description, location, climate

Bermamyt is a beautiful, unique and amazing creation of the nature of the North Caucasus. Amazingly transparent and cold dawns, bright and colorful sunsets - all this attracts an incredibly large number of people in these wonderful romantic places.

The plateau itself is located in an open for winds place. It is a kind of mirror and the creator of the weather of all parts of this southern region. It was not in vain that a weather station operated in Soviet times.

The Bermamyt plateau is located in the south-west direction from Kislovodsk, approximately 40 kilometers.

The most popular in terms of visits is the Great Bermamyt. Small is located slightly to the south.

Coordinates of the Bermamyt plateau: 43 ° 42 '19.3788' N; 42 ° 26 '34.2456 E.

The weather in these places is quite unpredictable. The snow falling in June is not uncommon for these places. The night temperature even in summer can drop to +5. In the daytime, windless weather and heat, instantly changing with the first blow of the wind on the cool, are possible. Summer nights here, as a rule, are quite clear.

Landscapes

This place is perfect for landscape photography. Magnificent cliffs, slopes of lowlands, grass-covered grass, alpine flowers, lovely morning and evening mists, magnificent mountains, bizarre clouds of various shapes in the daytime and night low clouds have fallen in love with many travelers - lovers of a romantic holiday. Plateau Bermamyt very much fell in love with landscape artists. However, there are difficulties associated with the fact that it is difficult to get to it (about this a little later).

What is remarkable about these amazing natural places?

1. Almost the entire western edge is suitable for viewing Elbrus.

2. Due to the high altitude and remoteness from the cities, the sky here is very transparent, which facilitates the filming of the Milky Way, meteorites, etc.

3. From the very center of the plateau a good view opens up to the Caucasian Mineral Waters, easily recognizable by the outlines of Mount Beshtau.

4. On this plateau is located Shatzhatmaz (height 2140 meters above sea level). It contains a meteorological station, a mountain-astronomical station and a scientific base of the Academy of Sciences of Russia.

5. In the Northeast of the Bermamyt plateau is the Pasture Ridge, which is divided into two parts by the Podkumok River (the Ginalsky Range and Darya Heights - 1300 and 1500 meters above sea level). From the heights of Darya in the northeastern direction the Borgustan plateau descends.

Getting to the Bermamyt Plateau

In general, the roads go only to the Great Bermamyt. The southern Plateau is of the greatest interest. From her and opens the most amazing view of Elbrus. There are still on the western ridge many interesting cliffs, picturesque "amphitheatres". Visitors to the plateau lined with slides of stone, perfectly fit into the landscape. In the north-west (passing along the cliff) one can see cliffs with curious names - "Two brothers" (or "Monks"). Very tempting plateau Bermamyt. How to drive a car there?

The flat top of the Great Bermamyt (almost flat) is accessible even by car.

However, it should be borne in mind that it is not very easy and pleasant to get to these places. The length of the entire road is about 40 kilometers. The road, we can say, is difficult, but quite passable for an off-road car. She walks along the steep rocks of the Berezovsky gorge, and then through the subalpine meadows.

To go it is necessary on a dirt broken road which crosses not absolutely attentive plateau. At the very beginning, if you go from Kislovodsk, the road stretches over the gorge of Berezovka. Usually, this monotonous path is brightened up by stories and messages about interesting stories and interesting names of mountains and rocks that meet along this path. The latter are rather curious: the Stone of Solitude, the Alabaster Mountain, the Watchtower, the Wolf's Gate.

Walking tour

There is another road to the Great Bermamyt. It is more interesting because it passes through the famous Narzan Valley. True, some of it has to be traversed on foot, climbing a rather steep slope (to the top from the gorge of the Hasaut River). This slope is not suitable for motor transport.

The rocky cliffs of Small Bermamyt are difficult to climb, so it is visited less often.

Dawn on the plateau: ghosts

The most interesting sight on the Bermamyt plateau is an amazing dawn. At the very first rays of the sun, Elbrus is covered with a light mist of air. With the rise of the sun, it increasingly thickens on Elbrus, closing its snow-white peaks. Such a presentation lasts for an hour, after which the peak of the Caucasian ridge is recognizablely visible on a blue sky background. At this moment, Elbrus shimmers with all the famous colors of the rainbow.

In addition, from time to time on Bermamyt you can see the so-called Brocken's ghost. In the clouds themselves there is a rainbow circle, and inside it, in an enlarged view, are figures of tourists (tourists). And each of their movement is transmitted exactly. Circles of these often disappear quickly.

These "ghosts" are enlarged shadows of human figures against the background of clouds on the opposite side of the sun rising from the horizon. All this occurs in connection with the refraction and expansion into the spectrum of light rays by ice crystals in cirrus clouds.

Due to the peculiarities of weather conditions, the Bermamyt plateau is convenient to visit from mid-May to the end of November. At other times, a deep cover of snow can interfere, for a long time lingering in the hollows.
