The height of the Petronas Twin Towers in Malaysia and something else

The end of the twentieth century was marked by the rapid development of the countries of Southeast Asia. The incomes of the states grew day by day, allowing to build luxury hotels and other buildings, differing by an amazing design. One such country is Malaysia. The Petronas towers, named after the local oil giant, are a real decoration of the capital of this distant state.

A little bit about Malaysia

Territory of the state stretches to the Malacca Peninsula, located south of Thailand, as well as part of the famous Borneo, which the Malaysians call Kalimantan. In addition, the country includes a number of small and not very archipelagos, the most famous of which is Langkawi. The total area of the state is about 329,000 km 2 , which is slightly less than that of neighboring Thailand.

Now Malaysia is one of the most dynamically developing countries on the planet. In addition, the government is actively trying to lure tourists to visit. For example, more and more curious objects are being created, such as Legoland on the border with Singapore or the already mentioned Twin Petronas towers. Malaysia, except for high-tech entertainment, can offer its visitors the beautiful beaches of Borneo and Tioman. In addition, throughout the state stretched the jungle, which can be visited with a guide if you want to thrill.

How to get there

Malaysia is considered by many Russians to be something very exotic, located at the far end of the world. However, this is not so, because the same Thailand, so beloved by domestic vacationers, borders on this country, and if we talk about the safety and well-being of the population, the northern "neighbor" of the Malays is far less favorable.

It's easy to fly to Kuala Lumpur from Moscow. However, most likely, it is necessary to reach with one transplant - in Bangkok or Istanbul. In addition, it is easier to fly to Singapore and take a bus there to Johor Bahru. From there it is easy to reach any point of continental Malaysia, and most importantly - cheap. Transport in general here is inexpensive, especially when compared with Russian prices.

Malaysia: Petronas towers and their history

The project originated in the nineties of the twentieth century, when the authorities decided to transfer the racecourse from the center of Kuala Lumpur, thus freeing up 40 hectares of land. It was decided to erect something that reflects the progress of the Malay people.

For the execution of this assignment, Cesar Pelli was called. He willingly took up the project, proposing to add two small round extensions to the towers, which increased the reliability of the structure.

The height of the Petronas Twin Towers in Malaysia was not planned to be a record, but in 1996 it suddenly became clear that there was not a single building in the world that would be closer to the sky.

The official opening took place in 1999, on August 28, seven years after the construction began.

The heights of Malaysia: the Petronas Twin Towers and their characteristics

The main symbol of the success and progress of the state is located in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. Surrounded by fountains and a park, the complex is truly amazing.

The construction of the national scale project was personally overseen by the country's prime minister, Mahathir Mohamad. He wanted the height of the Petronas Twin Towers in Malaysia to surprise the whole world. In addition, the design should also be unusual and catchy.

The skyscraper was built in the Muslim style: the building was made in the form of an octagon, and at its highest point the structure slightly resembles minarets. In addition, it was possible to fulfill the task of getting into the Guinness Book of Records, although initially no one thought about it. The height of the Petronas towers was almost 452 meters, making the building the highest in the world for 6 years: from 1998 to 2004.

The total area of the complex, including parks and buildings, is almost 40 hectares. In addition, the construction of the building took 13,000 cubic meters of concrete: the building has the most powerful foundation in the world!

To comfortably move around the tower, a whole system of elevators is used: 29 in each. They are moving at a speed of up to 7 m / s.

Heavenly Bridge

Even at the design stage of the towers Petronas Pelli thought about how to establish communication between the buildings. As a result, he came up with a brilliant idea: to build a bridge at an altitude of 170 meters, which connected the "twins".

Thus, in 1995, the best engineering minds from Samsung Heavy Industries designed and implemented a unique bridge to life. It was decided to place at the level of 41 and 42 floors of buildings.

The length of engineering miracle was 58 meters, and the total weight - 750 tons. Despite the powerful technical parameters, the bridge was mounted for three days, as all the blanks for it were pre-created in South Korea.

Now not only the height of the Petronas Twin Towers in Malaysia attracts tourists with its views, but also a unique bridge, suspended in the air. By the way, there is the first of a series of viewing platforms of the complex.

What to visit in Petronas Towers

Of course, when it comes to this phenomenal building, many want to climb as high as possible to capture the view of Kuala Lumpur and its surroundings. The height of the Petronas Twin Towers in Malaysia is so great that you can see any part of the capital. On the other hand, getting to the peak is not so simple: the number of tickets is limited, and there are many who want to. Thus, it is worth buying the right to visit early in the morning, at 8-30, when the cash registers are only opening. It is better not to use the services of third-party companies, as often their tickets are invalid, and no one will return money. In addition, the cost also bites - for the input will have to give about one and a half thousand rubles.

It will be interesting to visit the museum of science Petronas, located inside the building. There is a lot of interactive entertainment for adults and children. Unfortunately, you will have to withstand a long queue at the entrance, especially on weekends.

In the evening, you can see the show of fountains located in front of the buildings. It is absolutely free and very effective.

In addition, all the lower floors of the towers are filled with various supermarkets and boutiques, so there is always something to occupy.

Malaysia is an amazing country that can show its guests two faces: a technologically advanced power and at the same time a typically eastern mentality with a leisurely life and a Buddhist calm. The height of Petronas towers is not the only thing that impresses here. Beaches, sun, nature, people, technology - the country really has all the possibilities to become something more than eastern exotic!
