PJSC "Taganrog Metallurgical Plant": history, production, products

The public joint-stock company "Taganrog Metallurgical Plant" is one of the eight leading manufacturers of pipe products in Russia. The main customers are oil, gas and gas production, transportation, refining companies. In 2003 the enterprise joined the holding company "Pipe Metallurgical Company".

Base

Taganrog Metallurgical Plant is based on the shore of the Azov Sea in 1896. The idea of building a large steelmaking company belonged to Belgian and French industrialists, who wanted to expand their sphere of influence in Russia. After receiving permission, they dismantled one of the factories in Liege and recreated it in the city of Taganrog.

The first blast furnace and open hearth furnace were launched in the summer of 1897, and by the end of September the first production was shipped. Before the revolution, TAGMET was a fairly large steelmaking company. Here, sheet metal, armored steel, ammunition and other items were produced.

The Soviet period

In the Civil War Taganrog Metallurgical Plant was almost destroyed. In 1922 the trust "Yugostal", in whose jurisdiction the production was, decided to dismantle the corps because of their unsatisfactory condition. However, Felix Dzerzhinsky, who presided in the Supreme Economic Council of the USSR, instructed to restore the enterprise.

In the early 30s, TAGMET was significantly modernized. A new pipeline section with German equipment, in particular pilgrim two-roll tube mills from the firm "Mannesmann" was built. That's why the shop was named "Mannesmann".

In the war the Taganrog Metallurgical Plant was completely destroyed. Immediately after liberation, the former workers selflessly restored production from scratch. In November 1943, the open-hearth furnace and later the bandage shop again earned.

In the 1950s the plant was actively developing. In 1962, a new pipe-welding shop No. 3 was commissioned. The eighties passed under the sign of developing new types of products: drilling and casing pipes according to new GOSTs. In particular, they were used in a unique project - drilling the deepest well in the world on the Kola Peninsula.

New time

Unlike many enterprises, OJSC Taganrog Metallurgical Plant did not stop production after the break-up. With the conclusion of the partnership with the Pipe Metallurgical Company in 2003, significant investments were made in production.

In 2006, in the open-hearth shop, a continuous casting machine was started. In 2008 - ultramodern pipe-rolling complex, the first in Russia. In 2013, a new electric steel-smelting furnace was launched, designed to replace coal open-hearth furnaces.

Production

Taganrog Metallurgical Plant has a number of unique opportunities. To such advantages it is possible to carry the advanced manufacture of a steel completely covering own needs. The commissioning of the continuous casting plant "ladle furnace" by the well-known Italian machinery company Danieli ensured the production parameters required for the production of hot-worked seamless pipes of a wide range. This made it possible to master the production of pipe steels with a complex alloying system used in the gas, oil, machine building, instrumentation, power, nuclear, and other sectors of the national economy.

Reconstruction of the scrap yard, which involves the installation of new press-shears with a force of 1000 tons, markedly increased the productivity of workers in the coprod and open-hearth shops. Modernization of both pipe-rolling shops was carried out. The construction of a new thermal section was carried out, the installation of the reduction-stretching mill of the German engineering company SMS Meer was introduced. The renewed thermo-section allowed to increase the output of heat-treated pipes for various purposes by 100,000 tons per year.

Production

The Taganrog Metallurgical Plant (TAGMET) occupies a leading position in the domestic pipe market in the production of high-tech clutchless casing pipes with CTT threads, which are in great demand among oil companies. The enterprise at present is the Russian leader in the field of development and introduction of modern high-tight threaded connections. In the middle of the 2000s new sections of pipe-rolling shops were put into operation for the production of pipes with threaded connections of the Premium class.

In addition to the production of steels, TAGMET produces a wide range of pipes:

  • Hot-deformed seamless;
  • Casing;
  • Jointed electric welded;
  • Drilling with welded locks;
  • Profile;
  • Shaped welded;
  • Water and gas;
  • Pump-compressor;
  • For repair of wells.

Expanding production, improving the quality and improving the presentation of products, switching from coal to electricity - the main tasks of the company for the near future.
