History

The Philharmonia (Veliky Novgorod) was originally called a concert-variety bureau. Despite the fact that it was regional, it was located in the first time of its existence in the city of Borovichi. Novgorod at that time lay almost in ruins because of the fighting.

In the regional center the philharmonic society moved only in 1959. The collective received its own building only in 1987. Earlier there was a drama theater. The room is part of the Kremlin ensemble.

Having received its own building, the Philharmonic Society (Veliky Novgorod) began every year to hold various festivals: the festival of Slavic writing and culture, "Christmas gifts", "Stars of the XXI century" and others. The collective expanded, it was joined by two orchestras. Artists began to go on tour not only in the cities of Russia, but also abroad.

In 2000 the Novgorod Temple of Music was declared the Philharmonia of the Year.

Today, the collective is looking for new forms to work with listeners, expanding the repertoire, holding meetings with artists and introducing new genres.

Every year concerts are held here, organized jointly with leading collectives and soloists of Russia and the world. For fans of opera and ballet art events are held in which dancers and vocalists take part. They perform operas and ballets. But, unlike the theater, these are live versions, without decorations and costumes. In cooperation with the Mariinsky Theater and Valery Gergiev , the operas The Tsar's Bride by N. Rimsky-Korsakov, Lucia di Lammermoor by Gaetano Donizetti were shown on the stage of the Novgorod Philharmonic. And also within the framework of this subscription there was a concert of prima Mariinsky Ulyana Lopatkina.

Now a new project is being prepared for release. It is called Diaghilev's evenings. It was created for educational purposes. And also for the popularization of ballet and opera art in the Novgorod region.

Since 2011, the Philharmonic Society has been named after the great composer A. S. Arensky. This requires the team to organize large-scale projects. One of them was a festival dedicated to the work of Antony Stepanovich, who still exists today.

The active cooperation with the best musicians of Moscow and St. Petersburg continues.

Concerts-lectures are held for the younger generation. The team tries to teach children and young people to listen, understand and love classical music.

The activities of the Philharmonic are aimed at making life more spiritual and interesting.

Orchestra of Russian Folk Instruments

Philharmonia (Veliky Novgorod) became a home for the orchestra of Russian folk instruments in 2001. It was then that he was created by the teacher of the music school Viktor Grigorievich Babanov. The head and chief conductor of the orchestra is Vitaly Vladimirovich Belyaev.

This orchestra is the only one in the region working in the folk instrumental genre. His repertoire is extensive. It includes not only folk music, but also masterpieces of world classics.

The collective is a laureate and a student of various competitions and festivals.

The graduates of the Novgorod Regional College of Arts named after S.V. Rachmaninov and the highest musical educational institutions of the country.
